        Established in 1971, Hammond Middle School offers educational and athletic programs to more than 650 students in grades six through eight. The school conducts classes in various subjects, including science, math, language arts, social studies, music, and health and physical education. Hammond Middle School offers a range of sports activities, such as basketball, football, soccer, track and field and volleyball. In addition, the school provides special education and after-school tutorial programs. Hammond Middle School has a parent-teacher association that organizes various events and campaigns for students. Hammond Middle School has a guidance counseling department that offers individual and group counseling services to students. Hammond Middle School is a part of the Howard County Public School System, which serves more than 70 schools.

        Mrs. McGowan

        This school is very messed up and headed on the downside. There are some very good teachers, but the administration is horrible. They try to teach us about integrity, but most of the teachers don't have integrity themselves. Mrs. McGowan is okay at times, but she makes some very irrational decisions. She punishes the whole school because of a group of kids who like to disobey. She also has a very weird education system set up. She assigns teachers that are not capable of teaching that subject to do the job. The field trips she approves are all fun. I do not see her often at the school, and I constantly see her arriving late. Overall I can see that she does care about us most of the time and she treats us like young adults.
