Me and my sister are traveling up and down that highway from Indiana like crazy to doctor appts tending to my loved one and just to get updates. No way I couldn’t/wouldn’t be there with my loved one after a stroke.
I know covid has rules. But…. I also know it has exceptions. Your security ambassador Alex was just rude with a nasty attitude about the whole situation. I didn’t even get a chance to tell him I was traveling from out of state he just denied me and was trying to make sure I wasn’t going up to see my loved one. I on the other hand was sure I was going to see her so I asked him his last name and thats when he got worst. Asked me why, I explained I didn’t like his attitude and I wanted to complain and then he got upset and thought he was going to pick on me. I’m sitting down and he tells me to put on my mask and I told him “don’t you see I’m drinking this Starbucks” and he says well if you don’t put on your mask I’m going to ask you to leave and then that’s when I starting giving him a hard time. I waited a while but I pulled my mask up because I wanted to see my mother. He didn’t know I was in communication with my family upstairs and he told them I was downstairs and he was going to call the cops or security on me but my loved ones heard someone upstairs and said “oh no please let him up and they came down stairs to get me, and I was allowed an exception to see my loved one for today….
However….. the hospital should be a safe place. We are living through a pandemic and customer service should be number one. the goal should be to leave the hosptial feeling better ourselves or feeling better about our loved ones. After traveling almost 5 hours worried about my loved one living or dying I experienced “ALEX” and his nasty attitude. If he hates his job so much then he should fill out applications to work somewhere else. I didn’t break any laws so I wouldn’t care if security or police had be called I just wanted to see my mother and put my eyes on her.
ALEX was so rude to a 17 year old girl he said “nope you didn’t get an exception you can’t see your grandma” and that was it. In situations like that it makes sense to explain “hey, we are trying to protect both the patients and the staff here in this hospital and that’s why these polices are in place” instead of being a mean jerk. That could have been her last chance to see her grandma and she didn’t even get an explaination.
In addition to everything else I was never asked was I vaccinated. When Alex called up to the 3rd floor he didn’t explain that I was traveling from a different state and another employee told me to stick around and get an exception just because I had traveled so far. Alex did everything to make sure I couldn’t see my loved one and when I was allowed to see my loved one I told him “you mad aren’t you”. He’s just a terriable cold hearted person.
Considering someone else in my same situation dealing with a hint of mental illness that entire situation would have gotten a lot lot worst. I myself was prepared to explain to the police my position if they arrived because Alex never knew or cared to hear my exception and was made when it actually got approved.
In the end an addition security ambassador Jamie told me I needed to stop talking or she wasn’t going to print my badge and I was going to be asked to leave because that’s her co-worker but when Alex was trying to stop me from seeing my mom she was ok with that it was like the staff was more important then the customers and we are emotionally drained and dealing with loved ones who need us and still trying to live normal lives we don’t need terrible customer service on top of everything on our plate. That’s how the ugly situations happen. People get overwhelmed emotionally and do crazy things when all we need is a little reasonable customer service.

Don't get me wrong, I was raised only going to sparrow for emergencies because our family has always received top knotch care in their ER. Well, it seems that they're taking a turn for the worse by my experience and the horror stories I've heard. When my best friend delivered her baby in late May the nurses didn't change her bedsheets for the 3 days she was there. She ended up having to search the room for clean sheets and a dry pad to sit on and clean her room on her own, yes, after just delivering a baby. The nurses never checked on them, they were late with meds, and even forgot to order a meeting with a lactation consultant..it was a mess. As for my experience, it took 4 hours to get to a room and another 45 minutes for anyone to come into the room to start on your "medical emergency". They don't even give you blankets or pillows anymore in the ER, I was given a very thin fitted bed sheet. Also, my nurse maybe came in 2 times within my 8 hour stay until discharge time, and once was to put in my IV. In the end I didn't even know what was wrong with me still, they just told me to go to my primary care doctor..for severe abdominal pain? It was a very slow and aggravating process that now I wish I didn't get into. Next time I'm trying my luck with McLaren.

Always DEMAND a receipt. Otherwise, if you pay by cash, they will not offer a receipt, and later claim that you didn't pay. It's a HORRIBLE facility.
TRY TO AVOID IT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.

So My g/f goes into this place and first of all they didn't give her quality service second of all all the patients around her were treated better. She was admitted to the mental hospital and they also treated her like trash. I would also like to add that they pretty much tortured her with needles by not giving her proper treatment. She just went in to get her blood drawn and some woman was listening to rap music while drawing blood and dug up my g/f's arm really bad. I would never recommend this dump to anyone.

I just spent 4 days there and this is an awesome hospital from top to bottom. Every staff member was professional and I received outstanding care 24 hours a day. Even the food was outstanding. They had a huge menu like a restaurant and all you had to do was pick up the phone and order about an hour before you wanted to eat.
Thank you Sparrow Staff!!!

I can honestly say Sparrow is an amazing place, constantly expanding, professional and knowlegable. If I should need anything I will be sure to go there for all my needs, though the basement cafe could use some work - kinda looks like a dungeon.

I have been trying to get some quite simple information for the past 5 days. I dont know if Sparrow doesnt know the info, but it would have been nice to know that they didnt know before they gave me 15 different numbers to call. And by numbers to call I mean :
-Numbers that just ring.
-Voicemail that no one checks
-Being transfered to nothing
-Being hung up on
-Being transfered tot he wrong dept
This is just a few of the problems I encountered this past week. Not to mention the rudeness I recieved from most of the operator staff. I have explained my situation to almost everyone i have talked to. You would think SOMEONE would know WHAT number or WHO i needed.
All in all, I hope Sparrow isnt the most affordiable place to go for what i need and my incurence covers, because I will pay the extra to be treated RIGHT!
