Gandhi's Indian Restaurant

Gandhi’s in a nutshell: Compared to other Indian Restaurants in the area (i.e. The India Palace, Flavor of India, Saffron, Crazy Mario’s, etc.), Gandhi’s prices are substantially higher, quality and portion sizes (see additional comments below) of entrees are comparable, and flavor is average.



Although I was elated to learn that an Indian restaurant opened up in West Lake Worth, I was a little surprised by the prices.The owner assured me that their dishes are authentic and made with the finest and freshest (nothing coming from a can or jar) ingredients. I was also informed that what set them apart is that their dishes are not watered down or inauthentic as other Indian restaurants in the area. I was led to believe that as far as taste goes, there is no comparison. Despite the cost, I was eager to give them a try.



Unfortunately, their food and the overall experience did not at all live up to my expectations. Generally speaking, portion sizes were comparable and although the food was good, it certainly did not exceed the flavor of any of the other local Indian restaurants. In fact, the two dishes I ordered (chicken tikka masala and navratan korma) are far tastier at The India Palace. Plus, you get rice with each entree unlike at Gandhi’s-I was shocked when I unloaded the meals (I ordered take out) and only received a pint worth of rice for the 2 entrees. I immediately called to see if there was a mistake, but was told that they do not serve rice with navratan korma. Maybe this is true in India (I really don’t know), but I love and expect rice with my dish in the US.



For those considering dining-in, the atmosphere is nice, space is clean, and wait staff are friendly. Unless they adjust prices, I have a sneaking suspicion they won’t be in business long. Though I won’t be ordering from Gandhi’s again, I wish the restaurant the best of luck.
