Walmart Supercenter

I was buying my child a hoverboard for Christmas. I logged into My Walmart account and selected my local Lake St Louis store. They showed two. Very excitedly, I purchased one with warranty. They said they would message me when I could pick it up. Two days went by, so I thought I best drive there and see if there were any issues.

A young man assisted me, telling me plainly that they are out. I suggested he call other stores. A young lady there obliged. She called several, all showing inventory, all were out. The young man called a manager, an older gentleman- Dan or Dave maybe. He explained in detail what had happened. The manager simply said, "refund it." He walked away without so much as glancing in my direction. Now I would expect this kind of sophomoric, flippant attitude from some of our younger managers. The kind of men and women who haven't yet learned the nuances of good customer service. This gentleman was older. He had experience and certainly the "skill" to handle a customer service issue. He simply lacked the "will."

The young man informed me that it would be 7 days before I would receive a refund. "It is December 17," I informed him. "You're telling me that nearly $500 of my Christmas budget is now tied up until Christmas Eve because your inventory was off?" The young man told me there was nothing more they could do.

Thankfully, I believe I have enough cushion in my budget to square away a gift for the intended child. The item was out of stock, but didn't contact me for two days. I visit the store and am informed that not only do they not have the item, they don't have my Christmas money. Instead of a manager taking a moment and thanking me for my time and patience, and apologizing for their inventory control problems, he doesn't even acknowledge my presence, mere feet away?

Luckily, this is just an example of the worst customer experience I have ever had. Instead of en example of how my child's Christmas was ruined because I shop at Walmart.

I went to the Walmart in dardenne prairie to pick up a few items one of which was empty on the shelf. I took the tag from the shelf and had to walk to the hunting department to have them check their back stock. Louis the cashier looks at the tag and says they don't have it. This item isn't something in the hunting department so I enquired how he knew that, and he responded that it was because they do there stocking at night. He told me would check another stores inventory, but then began talking to Allen from the department next to hunting department about their lunch break schedule. Meanwhile I am standing right in front of him, and after about 5 minute of their conversion he goes back to checking inventory. He finds that they had a large inventory on hand. He told that had some, and I responded that I thought there might have been. He in a confrontational tone asked how it is that I would figure that. I responded that often smaller items will have a large back stock.



I am general manager for a retail store, and I know you store is only as strong as it's weakest link because that is the impression that will stick with your customers, and that is exactly what louis did for me. I will not go to this walmart again.

This store has everything at low low prices. Beware..This store is HUGH!!! I love it. I can get everything I need in one store and in one stop.

I found this Walmart to be clean, well stocked, and organized. The employees are friendly, too. I recommend a visit.
