Dr. Stark and his staff are wonderful. My parents have been taking their pets to him for years and I have also. Great Doc and staff is considerate and caring. I wouldn't trust my pets with anyone else..

Dr. Gotreaux is a native of Lacassine, Louisiana where she grew up on her family’s beef cattle farm with horses, goats, dogs, and lots of cows. She graduated from Lacassine High School, then attended McNeese State University where she majored in Agricultural Science with a focus on Pre-Veterinary Medicine. She is a graduate of Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine, class of 2021. Dr. Gotreaux is a full-time associate veterinarian at Lake Area Animal Hospital and her primary interests include preventative care medicine, soft tissue surgery, and ultrasonography. Dr. Gotreaux currently resides in Lacassine with her husband, Mark, and their three cats, Letty, Mia, and Hazel. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends and reading fiction/fantasy books.
Spaying and Neutering
There are several factors that help determine the best age for spaying and neutering including your pet’s breed (larger breeds wait longer) and individual health status. Typical spaying and neutering for most pets not used for breeding purposes is usually recommended between 6 and 8 months of age.

The in-house laboratory at Lake Area Animal Hospital provides pet owners with an expedited diagnosing process for their companion pets. We can process blood test results on site, typically within a matter of minutes. This is especially beneficial for critical illness and injury cases that need prompt diagnosis and treatment.
X-Ray
Lake Area Animal Hospital offers digital radiography, an extremely effective and essential diagnostic tool for veterinarians because it is painless, safe, non-invasive, and it provides a digital picture of the problem area quickly and without the need for numerous retakes. In the event of an accident or possible broken bones, digital radiology technology allows our veterinarians to diagnose your pet’s condition immediately and provide the proper treatment.
Dental Radiology
The images produced through this digital technique help our veterinarians assess the status of injuries or diseases that may be affecting your pet. We use it to locate foreign objects, detect masses such as tumors, measure organ size for disease, diagnose pneumonia, discover pregnancies, bladder stones, chronic arthritis, and certain spinal cord diseases. We also have digital dental radiography that enables us to identify tooth root changes (like abscesses) and alveolar bone loss, and it gives us the opportunity to discover teeth that are painful or require extraction.
