the mechanic failed to put the cotter pin in the shifter cable. I went out yesterday and back ed out of the dock. went back to pick a friend up and the shifter cable came out while it was stuck in drive. I put the boat in reverse and it went straight forward towards the dock. after smashing my windshield and almost getting my head taking off the lady at checkers marine told me I should learn more about boats before getting on them. then after the 1800 dollars in repairs she told me I would have to wait for the other customers and wait for them to get back from vacation before they would look at it and see if they even did it. I know you did it because you were supposed to put it back correctly. it's not like I went back there and took the pin off myself.

my friend and i drove from cleveland ohio yesterday to checker marine planning on spending close to a $1,000 on an outdrive,instead their awsum techs and staff looked at the old one we brought with us and told that we didn't need the whole drive just the bottom.they could have also sold us a prop instead they worked some magic on the old one and it was fine!! total bill? $350!!we will drive the 2hrs to get there again if we need something else,honest,the techs are GREAT!thanks for everything checker marine. norm&marty

Checker marine is, to be blunt, a boat junk yard.



Having said that, the prices are awesome versus new (and the quality of the american-made stuff they are re-vending is probably significantly higher than the "replacement" items that usually say "Made In China" on them someplace.



Hard to find parts--take a walk through the lot and you're liable to find what you need.



Outdrives, etc--he's got racks of that stuff.



Give Checker a shot next time you need something for your boat. You'll probably be glad you did!
