Oral Cancer Screening
At a patient examination, Dr. Johnson does an oral cancer screening exam. Oral cancer is a condition that claims over 7500 American lives each year. He also checks for gum disease, which affects about 80% of the population and is the leading reason for tooth loss. A thorough head, neck, and TMJ exam is performed during checkups, and Dr. Johnson inspects each tooth for structural integrity and health.

Teeth Cleaning
Traditionally, preventive dentistry includes all procedures that help ward off dental decay, gum disease, oral cancer, and other oral health problems. This includes daily brushing and flossing, as well as six-month checkups and dental cleanings.

Veneers

My procedure and follow up work took place during the pandemic, and I always felt safe in his office (temp checks at the door and ionizers in the rooms). Dr. Johnson always had availability to see me and even answer my calls after hours when I felt there was an issue (following surgery). His staff are cordial and professional; always willing to go the extra mile whether it be with scheduling or making me feel comfortable in the chair. Dr. Johnson and his staff have been very accommodating for my prosthetic work. I was referred to him by the National Foundation for Ectodermal Dysplasia (nfed.org). He was very responsive and willing to work with me as an out of state patient and to make sure my treatment goals were met. He went out of his way to answer all of my questions and advise me on my dental implant options. He also coordinated the implant procedure with an oral surgeon in the area (Mission Valley Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery).

Home Teeth Whitening with a custom tray is very affordable and more effective than other methods, often with less sensitivity. Teeth whitening can make you look and feel more appealing and invigorated!
Cosmetic Dentistry
The American Dental Association recognizes nine dental specialties, and the ADA does not include “ cosmetic dentistry ” as a specialty. Prosthodontists receive extensive training and experience in dental esthetics and cosmetics during their graduate programs which currently last three years. Many cosmetic dentists receive training during seminars or a series of courses, but this training is usually limited to weekend or possibly week long courses.
