Dr. Jordan and his staff are great! My son had his wisdom teeth out and we were both a little nervous. Dr. Jordan answered all of our questions and addressed our concerns. Some patients require minor oral surgical procedures before receiving a partial or complete denture, in order to ensure the maximum level of comfort. A denture sits on the bone ridge, so it is very important that the bone is the proper shape and size. If a tooth needs to be extracted the underlying bone might be left sharp and uneven. For the best fit of a denture, the bone might need to be smoothed out or reshaped. Occasionally, excess bone would need to be removed prior to denture insertion.

It is our desire that your recovery be as smooth and pleasant as possible. Sometimes the after effects of oral surgery are quite minimal, so not all of the instructions may apply.
Jaw Surgery
Orthognathic surgery is needed when jaws don’t meet correctly and/or teeth don’t seem to fit with jaws. This can cause problems with eating, speaking, and breathing, as well as creating an abnormal facial appearance. Teeth can be straightened with orthodontics, and corrective jaw surgery repositions misaligned jaws. Often these procedures are done in conjunction with each other. This not only improves facial appearance, but also ensures that teeth meet correctly and function properly.
Pre-prosthetic Surgery
Pre-prosthetic surgery is surgery that will prepare your mouth so that you may be able to have dentures, partials, and/or some other prosthesis fabricated and placed comfortably in your mouth.

Tooth Extractions
A dental extraction (or the removal of a tooth from the mouth) is performed for a wide variety of reasons, including tooth decay or breakage that renders the tooth unable to be restored, gum disease, or trauma. Other dental extractions include removal of impacted or problematic wisdom teeth, or removal of permanent teeth to create space for orthodontic treatment. Patients are usually able to return to work or school the next day.
Bone Grafting
Bone grafting is the procedure used for restoring deteriorating or lost bone material and especially for preparing dental implant sites for patients who would not otherwise be candidates for dental implants due to bone quality.

Orthodontics
Orthodontics alone can correct bite problems when only the teeth are involved. Orthognathic surgery may be required when repositioning of the jaws is necessary.
