Jerry Monkus - State Farm Insurance Agent

My wife and I have been with Jerry Monkus State Farm Insurance since we moved to Knoxville, TN in 2009. I finally got to speak to Jerry for the first time today (2014) in the form of a complaint. Our homeowners insurance was recently dropped by State Farm due to bad advice that we received from one of the associates who work under Jerry, Elonda. I always considered Elonda the Insurance Agent, since I only spoke to her and I never actually got to speak to Jerry. Though Elonda has always been pleasant enough (if not a bit pushy about getting life insurance) earlier this year she suggested that we go ahead and file a claim for our roof before we even had roofers come look at the damage. We had a slight leak and I knew State Farm could recommend some trustworthy roofers. Well, the roofers came out, did an easy patch job--problem solved. I called Elonda immediately, told her it was an easy fix, and asked her to cancel the roof claim. End of story, right? Not quite. Months later we got a letter in the mail informing us that they were dropping us at the end of the month, due to the fact that we had made 2 claims on our home within 2 years. Even though we have a perfect pay history and great credit, they dropped us. Aside from the fact that being dropped for using the insurance you're PAYING FOR is ridiculous, what really bothers me is that it was the advice I received from Elonda to make the claim prematurely that was the reason we were being dropped. And no money was even paid to us in that claim. Elonda and Jerry both agreed that the advice was bad, but that there was simply nothing they could do. I will be finding new insurance and I will be taking our car insurance elsewhere as well. I will recommend to everyone I know to avoid State Farm Insurance.
