Overall
go back into the hospital. ...

Nothing but praise for the caring and professional doctors and staff at KAH.

In 2008, we adopted a senior dog. In 2011, our dog became sick and due to Dr. McGruders dedication, we found out he needed emergency surgery. My family was scared that he would not make it due to his advanced age. The surgery that Dr. McGruder performed went great, but due to his age, the recovery was challenging and our beloved friend had to go back into the hospital. I remember Dr. McGruder called me on the Saturday night at 9 pm just to let us know that our dog was finally showing some signs of improvement. Imagine our disbelief when we realized not only was she with our dog at his time of need, but took the time out to notify our family because she wanted to put the kids minds at ease. Our friend made a recovery, and was able to stay with us 17 more months until his death in November, 2012 thanks to Dr. McGruder, Dr. Albino and all the wonderful techs and staff at KAH.

I know there is always going to be that unfortunate family who loses their beloved pet because of extenuating circumstances-and as someone who has lost a pet I am very sorry for them-but I truly believe that the only other place besides your home that your pet will feel more love and friendship is the Killingworth Animal Hospital.

Overall

Let me start by saying that the staff is very friendly! They treat all the clients and their pets like family. Very compasionate and greet any and everyone who walks through the door. They are efficient and genuinely seem to love their jobs!

The Doctors...are amazing. I have never met Doctors that walk you through everything they are doing and why they do it. They care about your animal and want to do everything they can for the animal not the $ involved and will in many cases try to find a less expensive route for you to try if possible. Dr. Fair has a very special connection with his patients and its such a great feeling to see my pet (who is not so happy when going to the vet) actually excited to see her doctor! The other doctors I have seen for my pets are also great. I would entrust my pets to any doctor in the hospital and know that they are in good hands.

Anyone looking for a new vet, should consider going in and meeting the staff and doctors. You will not regret it!!

Overall

Dr. McGruder is by far the most compassionate, knowledgeable, easy to communicate with veterinarian I have ever known. She is a doctor's doctor in that she genuinely cares about her patients and their owners. On more than one occasion, this dedicated veterinarian made herself available to me off hours, on weekends, holidays, and even made kennel calls while `i was out of town to check on my dogs.

Tender, yet the consummate professional, she was ALWAYS there for me and my animals.

I understand the pain of the reviewer below in losing her animal during what must seemed like a routine and benign procedure but I can assure anyone who reads this that Dr. McGruder was not to blame. Sometimes, in medicine, things just happen. There is no blame to be ascribed.

I wish Dr. McGruder could be MY primary care physician; she is just that good and rare in today's world of medicine. It is the lucky client who can get this veterinarian to care for their animal(s).

I want to think that the crew...

I want to think that the crew at KAH are all caring people but. I want everyone to know that they really should update their equipment and do some cleaning,If they had up to date equipment my pet would have gotten their procedure taken care of that day I brought him in and not have had to wait and suffer and get misdiagnosed and given the wrong medication for 4 days and a $600 bill. Then told you better bring him to the ER in Middletown I would have saved myself the money and just gone to the ER to start.

Overall
I have been a client of KAH si...

I have been a client of KAH since its opening in 1995. I have nothing but the utmost respect for the owners Dr. Bob Fair and his wonderful wife Beth. Everyone who works at KAH have always treated me like a family member with caring and compassion for my personal situation. KAH has taken care of many of my furbaby family members in good health and yes in the heartbreaking end of their lives also. While I understand the heartbread that you Mr.dkgrey have been going thru there is also things that happen in life that are out of a Dr.'s control. I personally have never met Dr. Magruder I am certain that if this Dr. is on staff at KAH I would fully trust any of my animals with this Dr. Sometimes with our loved ones, two legged and four legged, things happen which are never expected and even the best Dr's cannot explain, unfortunately we may never know the answer why these things happen. I am sure that Dr. Magruder did nothing to cause the death of your beloved animal and feels purely sympathetic about your loss. Dr.'s must remain professional even in situations such as yours and cannot give us the comfort we need while we grieve. I am so sorry for your the loss of you beloved pet but also feel that it is unfair of you to blame everyone at KAH for the situation. Giving the hospital a poor rating and warning people to stay away is not the proper way to deal with your loss. The crew at KAH are all wonderful, loving, caring people who respond to each and every animal who walks thru their door as if it was their own. I want everyne to know that I would trust any Dr. there with any pet of mine, or a family members pet, anytime with any proceedure....they have always gone up and above the call of duty for me and have always understood my situation and worked with me every step of the way...I cannot thank them enough for everything they have done and continue to do for me....I am thankful they are in my life and my cherished furbabies lives....
