Maxillofacial Surgery
Dr. Matthew Black is an oral surgeon who strives to provide every patient with compassionate care. During college, Dr. Black explored various career paths. This included training to become an EMT, which exposed him to surgical procedures, patient care, and anesthesia. As an active-duty member of the military, he was deployed to Iraq where his friend suggested a career in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Dr. Black began shadowing the different dental specialties and was drawn to oral and maxillofacial surgery for its complexity as well as the ability to safely administer anesthesia.
Tooth Extractions
Wisdom teeth, or third molars, are an extra set of molars that can cause a number of oral health issues if they are left untreated. Because the average person's mouth does not have room for these extra teeth, dental experts recommend having wisdom teeth extracted as soon as they begin to develop.
