Look no further, this is for you!

The first thing I wanted to do is to respond to the first review. I can relate to him b/c the first time I saw Dr. Trombley, I was confused about this particular type of therapy that I was going to try and what exactly I was supposed to be journaling about. The one BIG difference is that I gave Dr. Trombley a chance and I was so impressed with him that I returned to see what he had in store for me.

I have been in differnt types of therapy for the past 12 years and every one of them told me the same things and gave me the same recommedations and programs, and I didn't see any results. I have been mentally ill for the past 22 years and I decided to try medication to see if it could help me. It took me 8 years, and with a very patient and determined psychiatrist, we found a combination of medication that actually helped me.

I promised myself that I would make a promise to myself and I would go for 5 sessions with Dr. Trombley and if I didn't feel like this type of treatmet was working for me and I didn't see any changes, then I would move on.

The first session I talked and he listened. Instead of trying to analyze me and come up with an immediate diagnosis, he really listenened without judgement as I shared some of my past and present problems. He said he would like to help me and I challenged him with, "OK, you go ahead and give it your best try, there have been many therapists before you and they have all failed, why do you think you are going to be any different."

He told me if I could learn how to trust him and participate in the lessons that he was going to assign to me, that I would begin to see changes in my life and my behavior. He didn't make any promises and say that in the first week I would see automatic changes, but I needed to trust myself and believe that I could change my life. My desire to change was up to me. This question in my head that kept reapeating itself was, "What other options do I have."

I went to see him faithfully 1 time a week for 5 weeks, just like I had promised that I would. I thought a lot about the past 5 weeks and I could see where I had made a few small changes for the good.

The work I did with Dr. Trombley has helped me more in the past 9 months than the other therapists had helped me in 12 years. That is proof in itself that this treatment does work. It's just like anything that you want in life. At one point in our lives, we have all tried something that we wanted to do, like playing a sport or learning how to play an instrument. The first time you try to make a touchdown or the first time you sit at the piano, you are confused and you get frustrated b/c you want automatic results, but because it's new to you, you know you have to practice and that it will take time and hard work before you start feeling confident about your abilility to learn. Whatever it is that you are after, does take hard work, time, persistence and a whole lot of determination before you see the results that you want. And isn't it easier when you have a coach, friend, or a teacher to get you started on how to begin the process of completing your goals?

That is how I look at Dr. Trombley, he is my teacher and coach, he takes you from the very beginning and shows you how to understand youself better and make the changes that you need to. He takes small steps so you are not overwhelmed. To really change, we must be determined and persistent.

Dr. Trombley came into my life when I needed him the most. He gives so much of himself and sticking in there with me through my good and bad days.

More than anything, he believed in me! I know that I have the power in me to get better.

Am I cured? No Am I better? Yes...I can say that I am on my way to a better life and a better me. FINALLY!

A Waste of Time

All I was told to do at this place was to write about my what upset me for 20 minutes a day. I was told that this would decrease my pain by lowering my stress level. Since I have pain caused by serious, advanced disease, this writing didn't do anything for me. I did try it, giving them dr. the benefit of the doubt, but it has done nothing for me. Perhaps if this dr. were older, or had experienced serious disease pain he would understand this. Even though I tried to explain this, and why I didn't think the process was helping me, he did not seem to listen and certainly never checked my medical records. This is a waste of money to anyone experiencing longtime advanced chronic disease in my opinion.
