Ultrasound
This is different from a diagnostic ultrasound, which is used during pregnancy. Instead, therapeutic ultrasound provides relieving deep heating to tendons, joints, ligaments, muscles, and other soft tissues in the body. The heat increases circulation to the tissues being treated, which is believed to provide healing benefits. The heat generated with the treatment is also effective for alleviating pain, improving joint mobility, and increasing the speed of the recovery process. It can also be set in such a way to decrease inflammation.

Iontophoresis is used to decrease inflammation. Medication is administered into the body through the skin using iontophoresis, which is a type of electrical stimulation. There is a bit of chemistry involved in explaining why the treatment is effective. In essence, a medication ionically charged with a negative charge has a negative electrical charge applied to it. Then the negative electricity will push away the medication or repel it into your tissues, when a positive charge is applied on another part of your body. It is extremely effective, because unlike taking an oral (by mouth) anti-inflammatory that may circulate through your whole body, this acts on a small targeted area, allowing it to be highly effective.

She was the physical therapist and clinic director of a private practice in Philadelphia until her move to FL in 2010. From 2010 through 2013 she served as senior physical therapist and ergonomics department supervisor for Jupiter Medical Center as well as ergonomics consultant for Pratt and Whitney.
