Divorce

Paternity

Establishing paternity is necessary in order to establish custody, child support, child support arrears, reimbursement for medical bills due to the birth of the child, and visitation. Without establishing paternity, the Court cannot rule on these issues.
Premarital Agreement
In order to provide that a Prenuptial Agreement is effective, since they are often challenged in the course of a divorce proceeding, it is imperative that the Agreement is properly drafted, and important steps are taken to make the agreement bulletproof. For example, it is important that proper discovery be provided to each party such as signed Financial Affidavits. It is important that the document be prepared well in advance of the wedding. Your prospective spouse should have legal representation available to them as well in order to insure that they properly understand the agreement.
Spousal Support
Spousal support is an important issue that is regularly raised in divorce proceedings. Also known as alimony, spousal support is the monetary support paid by one spouse to the other in order to attempt to maintain a lifestyle. This support may be temporary, such as during the course of the divorce, or permanent in nature.
