My worst tattoo came from Matthew's the ink is faded out and its less than 2 years old. Worse than that the people behind the counter are just flat out rude, the tattoo artist however was nice.. But come on customer service matters in this industry especially if you are a true Christian business

The man has a bad attitude and won't honor your request and does not honor his guarantee!

I had a very nice piece done by Michael Pearson five years ago and I still love it. I want to get a re-work/add on piece done sometime soon of some work I got a long time ago at a different shop. I was treated with respect and felt confident through the entire process and plan to get more work from this shop over time.

I have actually been to Matthew's Party Tattoo and have had several tattoo's done by Michael. They have never been rude to me or hesitated to answer any questions I might have had... Including when I had gone in for my first tattoo, which I had drawn myself and consulted Michael on. They are incredibly patient, considerate individuals and I would not only continue to go back any time I wanted work done, but have referred them several times to friends and family. They are a Christian-based shop and make no bones about it. Anyone who is a local knows this, so to act surprised that they stand behind their morals... Why even go there in the first place? This is a top-notch shop cared for by top-notch people.

I have several tattoos from this shop. All are amazing and what I wanted.The color holds very well. The level of talent this artist has can't be touched. I made the mistake of getting a tattoo while I was on vacation and I can't even begin to tell you how painful it was let alone how infected it became. Mike from Matthew's saved my day. I was so discouraged until Mike fixed someone else's blunder and it wasn't painful. I learned my lesson and I am solely devoted to Matthews Party Tattoo. I receive good service every time I walk in the door. I have seen a lot of work in my life and if you want an awesome real tattoo go to Matthews party tattoo. This place is clean, uses ink that holds up and friendly. In my eyes there is no other shop around that can give me the amazing tattoos that Matthew's has given me. Mike thank you for your talent and sharing your talents with all that you have pierced or tattooed. God has blessed you tremendously. I am a faithful customer and will be back soon for my next tattoo. People I am telling you I had my nightmare tattoo but Matthews saved it. You want talent, clean, professional work there is no other choice but Matthew's Party Tattoo.

My wife, two boys and myself have all been here within the last 3 months with a total of 7 tattoos and one piercing and I can honestly say that each visit we were treated very well by the staff and especially the artists, Michael and Zion. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and the best work I've seen compared to tats on my friends from other artists. My advice would be to know exactly what you want before you even get to their shop. They do have staff members that will assist you in the details but it's much easier to research on the internet and magazines before you get there. VERY clean environment and the wife's nose piercing was absolutely painless. These are good people who care about what they do. Highly recommended.

Went today to get a rib tattoo and my foot tattoo fixed. I can proudly say after seeing this tattoo work I would never go anywhere else. I have also had 4 piercings done here. Amazing people, great prices, unbeatable work. ♡

I went there last night an got my left chest tattoo! It's great just what I was looking for! I'm very pleased with my experience there! My first tattoo there I would for sure go back.

Matthews part tattoo is a great place to get tattoos! Front desk is always helpful and the work is incredible! Got a half sleeve along with many others here and I get asked all the time who did it because they absolutely love it! I am 100% satisfied with every ounce of ink from here.

they are the rudest people i've seen. Why give people like that our money? Go to Screamin Needle you'll get super customer service and great work...

As with most of the other reviews, I can say the front desk staff are combative and rude at best. The staff only wants to state the obvious on the signage and couldn't care less about questions or service. They don't discriminate on age - they are rude to everyone. Customer loyalty and care means nothing, but the almighty buck does. It's humorous that they act as if you're inconveniencing them and doing you a huge favor. There are several great artists in the area, do a search and give them a call, you won't be disappointed like Matthew's. 2 stars only because the ink is nice, but who needs that drama?

Fabulous work, bad attitudes, over priced for the general area. If I could get past the rants had in the shop, I'd absolutely have be a return customer.

I have gone to Matthews for all of my piercing and they have done a really good job with them. However, I recently went to look into getting a tattoo from them and I was not impressed by their non professional attitudes. This is my first tattoo so I obviously don't know what I am doing and every question I had asked, they pretty much said no and were very rude. I don't know if it was because of my age (which I never even told them) or what. I am very disappointed because I was set on getting my tattoo there but now I will be taking my business somewhere else.

I've went to Matthew's every time i wanted a piercing. I got my bellybutton and my tongue pierced there. And about a year later i got them both pierced again because i had to let them close for Basic Training. Everyone is really nice and the work they do has always been perfect for me. He makes it quick and painless. I deffinitely recommend going to Matthews.

I just had a tattoo done at Mathews and it was done with a lot of color and detail. I love the tattoo and Would definitely go back there again! Thanks again for the beautiful artwork!

Very Rude and Very Unhelpful! This was my first tattoo and I was a bit nervous about getting it done and wanted it to be perfect. The people at the front desk were rude and not helpful, I tried to ask them for help but they only suggested looking at the tattoos they have posted on the walls to refer too. After some time I finally got the tattoo design I wanted and scheduled an appointment for that coming Saturday. There was a younger kid working this day and he was to busy playing on the computer and drawing on his finger to pay attention to anything I had to say. When I did get his attention he put me in there book for that coming Saturday for an appointment. When I came in that Saturday for the time agreed on, I came to find that I apparently missed my Appointment because it was put in for that Friday not Saturday. I told the lady that was working on this day that the kid working the day I made the appointment wasn't paying very much attention and I was sure to make the appointment for Saturday as I had to work Friday. She then started to blame me saying that I missed the Appointment and was being very rude (I believe the kid that that I was talking about was her son, and she was Matthews wife). I eventually got it straight and scheduled another Appointment and got that tattoo done. After I finially got to meet Matthew (The day I got that Tattoo) I had a good experience, He was polite and did a great job on the tattoo. The customer service here was terrible but the actual tattoo work was, as they lady and the younger kid working here for very rude and unhelpful. However the actual tattoo work was good, and I am happy with the design. Matthew should be more involved with his customers, as far as helping them with there designs. This happened over 2 years ago and was such a bad experience that I remembered it well, and I finally now got a chance to write about it. I would avoid as I hear other places in Johnstown as Kings Row and Total Commitment do great and are much more People Friendly.

Customer service is TERRIBLE! I have been waiting years for my tattoo,saving up, researching shops,planning my design. I chose Matthew's because I saw that they proclaimed to be a Christian tattoo shop,and they have been rated the best in Johnstown for several years in a row. Ha! I called ahead to ensure that the artist Michael was available to discuss my design with me and was told to come on over. As soon as I walked in the door,Michael said,"I don't have time for this,I'm hungry,I'm going to eat." In the end he did stay and talk with me for a few minutes about my piece and then he asked his secretary Rachel to print off a few things for me while he went to eat and then when he got back we could get started later that night. So,I hung around that night for a few hours,and he decided not to do it that night after all,as he had walk ins that then took precedence (because apparently my time is not valuable?). I was then told that I would need to schedule it for another time. But to schedule it,I would need to come back with cash just to schedule a time. Now mind you that all over Matthew's Party Tattoo facebook page it states that he will tattoo pretty much 24/7,and if you pay up front then you get your own private session before or after the store closes.So that is what I decided to do,since this was my first tattoo so that it was more relaxing and calm. So I came back with my calendar and my money to schedule. At this time Rachel told me that Michael could come in as early as 6 a.m. and would stay as late as midnight. So,as we begin trying to schedule,she becomes the calendar nazi. Every time that I give her for availability,she informs me that he will not come in until two hours before the shop opens and that he will not schedule any later than 8 p.m. when the shop closes! This is a totally different story than facebook,as well as what she had just stated. So two hours later (after much exasperation and NO customer service),a time was settled on and my money was paid. Rachel then told me that I could email Michael before my sitting and ask him to send me the rough draft of my tattoo as he would not just send it to me because he had the mind of a starfish. (Nice,eh? And all this mind you while they have the Christian radio station piping through the studio!) So a few days pass and I email Michael to let him know that I am excited that we were finally able to work out a time for my sitting and that I was looking forward to working with him and asking him if he could send along a sketch of my tattoo if he got a chance,and he sends me an email back that he isn't doing my tattoo and to come and get my money. So,after all of the time in the studio working everything out,he decides that he is not going to do my tattoo? So,because Rachel at the front desk is rude and unaccomodating to the customer with scheduling,and the customer then unsatisfactorily must settle with the slim picking of time that they are offered regardless of what is advertised-but said customer still pays upfront and takes that time regardless,and remains friendly with said rude secretary-rude secretary then complains to said CHRISTIAN tattoo artist who then also becomes unprofessional and just decided to not do a tattoo based on above without ever talking to the customer,and never bothers to inform the customer who was about to show up for their scheduled sitting that he was not even going to bother doing their tattoo anyway.REALLY? I would advise anyone looking to have a peaceful fun experience getting a tattoo to stay far far away from this establishment to say the least! I have never seen such a poorly run business with no interest or care for the customer. Scary to think that their job is to put something permanent on your body when they do not even want to be nice enough to schedule your sitting,or listen to what you are looking for in your tattoo. I am thanking God that I got my money back at this point!

Horrible customer service, they charge for touch ups, they don't care about their Consumer, all they want is to take your money to pay his bills, i spent well over 1k in this shop and i was treated like garbage for asking if he could take a few dollars less then what he said it would be, as a loyal customer, and i got told rudely to leave, his work is good, but he lacks customer appreciation.

I designed my own tattoo, and had been putting off getting it for about four years. The design used a lot of detailed Celtic knots, as well as some lettering and a dagger. Simply put, Michael (the artist at Matthew's) rendered it better than I could have hoped for. The detail is perfect, including some small touches (white accenting on the letters, for instance) that makes the design just pop out of the flesh. I'd highly recommend his work.



As for some of the other reviewers who noted that he turned down working on Pagan designs... you may not like it, but he has the right to refuse to work on you. His beliefs conflict with what you wanted; I can't blame him for choosing not to use his talents for something he feels strongly against. That's his choice.
