We needed temporary daycare as our Nanny required medical leave for 2+ months. I frantically called several daycare facilities in Jersey City to find space for my two children, who were roughly 3 1/2 and 18 months. After visiting and talking to several daycare facilities we choose Growing Tree II in downtown Jersey City. It was not the most convenient to where we lived but from what we saw it had the best care for our children. The teachers were fabulous and showed real care for our kids, while being able to discipline our older one properly. It was a tough transition for both of the kids, never having been in daycare, and within several days they loved being there. I believe it was because of the teachers. I loved that they provided all the food besides the late day snack, that they went outside for a walk or to the park everyday, and that the older ones were given responsibilities (like making their own cots for nap time and handing out cups/utensils for meals).

Our daughter is learning so much in the Circus classroom! We appreciate the structure and academics that she is being taught while having fun. She looks forward to doing her "homework" every night and is excited to go to school each morning. The staff are always willing to communicate with us and answer any questions we have. Ms. Charlene sends home the weekly newsletter so we know what they will be working on each week.

Just this week, it is day 3 of fire prevention week and she came home and was teaching us songs, showing us what we should do if the door is hot, and practiced Stop, Drop & Roll!

We are very happy with our daughter's placement in the Circus classroom!

Our daughter has been at Growing Tree for the last 2.5 years, since she was three months old. As with any daycare or school, there will be issues. It is unnerving to leave such precious young children in the hands of others, and there will always be instances of disagreement. However, the staff at Growing Tree 2 has been wonderful. Our daughter truly considers it her second home, and has developed strong bonds with the teaches and other students there? Is it perfect? Absolutely not. But our daughter has grown immensely during her time there - she is happy, healthy, well socialized and is now experiencing the foundation of her education. Organizational issues have been addressed and improved over the last couple of years, and while problems remain, we are very happy with our experience at GT2.

We are very happy with the care provided to our son at Growing Tree II. He is always excited when we drop him off in the morning and always smiles when I hand him off to a care giver. My wife says the same thing when she picks him up in the afternoons. All of the care givers in the Butterfly Room seem to truly care about the welfare of all the babies there.

I am very happy with my experience at GT2. I know the teachers love and care for my son. My only concern is that I think he should be moved into the next class from the baby room, but he is not allowed to move because he cannot walk. Developmentally (mentally) I think he does not belong with babies. He cries when he is left in that room. He is happy when he is in the next room. I understand the rules and understand that he's brought over to the bigger room when possible, but I am concerned that if he does not walk soon it will be bad for him to remain in the baby room.

We are so happy with the staff, the love and the care our infant gets in the Butterfly Room. The staff communicate with us, they are extremely helpful and accommodating, and they do various activities with the babies to help them develop appropriately. My daughter LOVES Ms. Olivia which, as a working mother, is the best feeling.

We have been very happy with the level of care our son received at this day care since he was 5 months old. He is now 15 months and graduating to the toddler room this month. The teachers in this center are really caring and I know his primary caregiver from the infant room will keep an eye for him as she genuinely feels attached to him and responsible for his well being. It feels good when I drop him off in the morning to see him smile and be happy to be back with his teachers and friends. This center feels more like family than an institution. Most caregivers are bilingual: English and Spanish, which is another advantage for us, since we want our kid to be exposed to as many languages as possible]
