Overall

My daughter got herself hospitalized and the hospital gave her a choice to where she wanted to go. She chose Chatham oaks cause she liked it there which I did not like her being there but she was an adult and I had no say. She got into different drugs there and was not supervised there at all. She kept cutting herself but apparently that is ok. Chatham oaks sucks!! I don't wanna give them any stars

I agree with John C., C.O. is not an asylum, but is certainly is not a structured environment either. I have had the opportunity to know several residents of C.O. over the past year and have gone to visit many, many times. Not once have I signed in, ever. There's a symbolic sign-in book that is never enforced, anyone can walk right in (and out!) of the building. Although street drugs are prohibited, they run rampant with residents who continuously drop dirty UAs and spread like wildfire to whomever those residents can persuade to join in on the "fun." One of the residents I recently went to visit had their first acid trip there. THANKS ALOT C.O. , that's just fantastic, I thought the resident being there meant I wouldn't have to worry about things like that happening, but quite the contrary. The facility is highly understaffed, the residents are generally treated well (at least when visitors are around), however as John C mentioned, praise is rarely ever heard. It is a bleak place to be; a holding cell best suited for inactive smokers and nonverbal residents who don't need any type of positive human interaction... ever.

Overall

Chatham Oaks is not an asylum. Nobody is running around with a butterfly net. If you are not used to living in a structured environment C.O. may not be for you. There are 3 meals daily. The cooks make an honest attempt to make good food but rarely do. There are about a thousand rules and no rule book. If you like to smoke, you will be in your element, but always outside. They do your laundry. Apparently they feel you'll drink the detergent or something. Privacy.? There is no privacy. They have cameras inside and outside the building. The workers there work for a pay check and nice bennies but don't expect to become bossom buddies with these people. It is a hoarded job for C.O. workers that don't get much praise. I have seen many good staff leave due to burn out.You sleep with up to 5 other residents per room. Your fellow residents might seem normal but that might be wishful thinking. Case in point. I once entered a room where a resident was masterbating in broad daylight. Violence and street drugs are highly prohibited. Weapon are not allowed. The bottom line is the C.O. Is a business. It was recently purchased by Abbe Inc. in 2013. C.O. made 2.6 million dollars in 2013 according to there website. Chatham Oaks shining star is Vivian Davis who runs C.O. Her door is always open. Before you move in, take a tour of the faculty. Nothing is black and white. C.O. helped me but has hurt others. Remember... Enter at your own risk. Good luck to you!

I was a resident at chatham oa...

I was a resident at chatham oaks for over 2 years & I completly agree with all the

negative reviews that this place recieves on a regular basis. It is the most disrespectful

personel of any care facility ever. The nursing staff upstair are the most unpleasant and

unprofessional individuals ever. They have no business being around people let alone

working with them in any type of care giving copasity. It borders on abuse... the food

is good unfortuniatly they only serve enough to leagly cover themselves from actually

starving the residents... It all does border ( & at times is abuse )
