I do not recommend Dr. Vail after losing my mare to colic nearly 2 years ago. Dr. Vail never checked my horse's vitals, did not carefully listen to my description of her symptoms,and senselessly prescribed copious amounts of Bute. After 6 days of Dr. Vail's reckless counsel and treatment, we transported my mare to Chino Valley Equine Hospital. During her 12 day stay at the hospital, she received IV and treatment for ulcers, underwent abdominal surgery, then forced into quarantine, and was finally euthanized. Dr. Vail's initial treatment was so bungled and incompetent, I'll never know if my horse could have been saved.

Actually, have told many horse friends about this place. Best Vet for horses. Every experience I have had with them has been excellent. Great care, quick return of emergency calls. Available when needed.Can't say enough, and have used another vet and always go back to this one.

I had to truck my horse down there from Yucca Valley one morning for colic. They had her for a week, saying that she had to have emergency surgery, 24 hour care, blah blah blah. One afternoon when I called to check on her, they said she was doing awesome and would be able to come home in a day or two. The next morning when I called to check on her, they said she had died the night before, because someone had let her out in the pasture to roll and she had hemorrhaged. I forgot to mention though that when we took her down there they went ahead and debited the projected amount of the vet bill ($2000) and then the night before when she was supposedly doing SO MUCH BETTER, they denited another ($1000) and then the next morning when they said she had died debited another $2000!! I asked to see her if possible and was told it wasn't, that they had already buried her. But when I went to pick up her halter and lead the next day, they couldn't even show me where they had buried her! I didn't see any recently turned up dirt in the area either. I've talked to quite a few people that have had the same story when dealing with this place. (8 people to date) PLEASE PLEASE don't take your horse there, or you will probably never see it again!
