Nasty and arrogant and ignorant

Not only are the clerks, especially the owner, nasty, but they do not even know anything about the merchandise they sell. I bought a 9 mil Ruger and the clerk took the vinyl clad bike lock and removed the vinyl, drilled a hole in the plastic box it came in, and used the now bare bike lock to lock it. The bike lock WITH vinyl clad is supposed to lock the open action gun you idiot. I will NEVER do business with these ignoramuses again. They also never have ammo, so what's the point?

What a difference from years ago! I went back to the Powderhorn recently and was very impressed by the knowledgeable and friendly staff. I bought a Smith Shield 9mm and an M1A and got a great deal on both. They also had plenty of ammo in stock including 9mm and .22!

Just completed a course at the Powderhorn and had lessons from Mark. Have previously purchased items from the store. Am writing this review only because of the other comments being made which I find is directly opposite from my experience. Mark was very knowledgeable with a good sense of humor. I have to attribute these comments due to the writers of the reviews not the person being reviewed.

I am another ex-customer of the Powderhorn. I've spent money there in the past, but after seeing some of the crap that asshat Mark (owner) and some of his monkeys have pulled and I can assure you all of the negative reviews are well founded. Last pistol I bought from them was 6 years back. I was looking at a Russian Makarov.in the case and they tried to talk me out of buying "that commie piece of sh*t" I bought it for $275 and a few months later sold it for $650. :) Go to ODSguns.com in South Yarmouth. Small but super friendly with reasonable prices. I just got a Glock 19 Gen 2 for $579.

I heard rumors of the owner being a hothead but wanted to form my own opinion. First time I bought something he was very nice. Second time I bought a shotgun. I asked him a question about it and he was so annoyed with my one question that he threw something down on the case like a child having a temper tantrum. Went in for the last time the other day. I had $2000 in my pocket. Asked to see two similar guns (over $1000 each) so I could compare. He told me he didn't have time to "play museum" and assumed I had no intention of buying, then quickly returned the guns to the case. Being ridiculed for making an educated decision on an expensive purchase is where I draw the line. I put the ammo I was carrying back as well. Will not give them another dime. Go anywhere else! Common decency is also necessary for a free society. I think the owner needs mental help.

Stay away from this place. Ow...

Stay away from this place. Owner is a foul-mouthed a** who cusses out customers and then expects them to buy things. I witnessed this first-hand and have been treated poorly myself. I work too hard for my money and will NEVER shop there again. It's not a monopoly out there, you can buy guns anywhere in the state, and I would suggest you not purchase them here.

I recently bought a pellet gun...

I recently bought a pellet gun there and although it's not a M-16 or a shotgun, it costs $260 which is a big investment for me to shoot rabbits. When the employee returned empty handed without the new gun that was supposed to be in stock, the owner told him to find the old box and sell me the display. When I asked for a deal because the gun was a display he laughed like I was insane. Next, another employee returned with the new gun that was in stock after all. The owner cut the new box open and tried to slip the display gun in the new box to sell me and put the new gun back on display.Right in front of me!!!!!!What a weasle! For full price I want a new gun in the box wrapped in plastic, not a display that's been handled by a hundred guys. I was so pissed I left without buying the case, ammo and targets I needed.

After living in the area for over 30yrs and many many visits to the Powderhorn I would have expected at least a friendly attitude toward a repeat customer (bypolar I think). Today was the last straw!!! Ready to drop 900 bucks on a pistol "in stock" and I was treated with arrogance and disrespect. I guess the gun business is doing well enough they can treat customers any way they like! Will never return! I will travel further for my purchase but will relish the enjoyment of giving my money to a deserving business...JB Hyannis
