        North Alabama Dance Center was founded in 1983 to offer young people and adults a quality dance education, with a special emphasis on the discipline of ballet. Director Barbara Ellen Smartt has crafted a syllabus based on accepted ballet standards. A complete dance education is offered in ballet, pointe, modern, lyrical, jazz and tap. Students are individually placed based on their ability, experience, and age. A highly trained and competent staff of instructors conducts classes for students age three through adults. NADC promotes enjoyment and love of the art of dance while incorporating a specific syllabus for each age level and discipline. An annual recital and regional dance competitions are performance outlets for our dancers. Students are encouraged to audition for a variety of performance opportunities with local and state arts groups. Advanced students are invited to perform at Panoply and at southeastern regional Dance Masters of America competitions.

        My family has been at this stu...

        My family has been at this studio for almost a decade now, and I hope to see my grandchildren training there one day. The staff is exceptionally talented, creative, and professional. We know that our children are getting a proper dance education, building a strong work ethic, and gaining lifelong friends in a positive environment. Each staff member treats every child with respect and love. It is wonderful to have such amazing mentors in teachers and the older youth at NADC! We travel past many studios much closer to our home to attend NADC, and have never desired to change studios, because we can not beat the quality, care, and modest/age appropriateness at any other studio!

        Great!

        My daughter loves dancing at NADC. We live quite a distance from the studio but we wouldn't think of changing studio's for convenience. The level and training my daughter receives, the professionalism of the staff, and the creative choreography used in performances and competitions are important to us in our daughter's dance education. Whether she decides to continue on into a dance career or just dance for enjoyment she will be well prepared. Thanks NADC.
