A: A sealant is a plastic material that is usually applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth (premolars and molars). A: If your doctor has recommended a crown to you, it is likely either to correct a broken tooth or to repair a tooth that has deteriorated due to cavities (decay). The decay in your tooth eats away healthy tooth structure much like rust eats away at metal. If not removed, decay will deteriorate the tooth to the point where extraction is the only viable treatment option. Sometimes, decay is removed, leaving healthy tooth structure but not much of it. A crown can then be placed, restoring the look and function of your tooth, while allowing you to keep your natural, underlying tooth structure. Most crowns are precision-milled porcelain or full metal (gold or silver) and are individually customized for each application in each patient, giving you a natural, long-lasting smile.
Bridges
If you have lost a tooth, a large gap in your smile left uncorrected can create significant problems for your dental health. Gradually, your bite pressure may shift to other parts of your mouth to compensate for an inability to chew efficiently in the area of the missing tooth. Neighboring teeth may begin to move into the gap, resulting in discomfort, pain, and more future problems. After some preparation of the two neighboring teeth, crowns are created for them. Root Canal Treatment
Damage to the nerve tissue inside of a tooth sometimes requires a root canal procedure. Dr. Drbohlav takes advantage of advances in technology and dental techniques that make root canal procedures more effective while taking less time. The procedure involves removing the soft tissue within the tooth when it has become infected and inflamed. Dr. Drbohlav gently removes the infected tissue and fills the void with an inert material.
