June 12-14, 2020The Pan-Pacific Festival is an annual three-day cultural celebration that features an eclectic assortment of cultural arts, crafts, food and stage performances in a variety of settings in and around Waikiki throughout the weekend. June 12-14, 2020The Pan-Pacific Festival is a jubilant block party that takes place on Kalakaua Avenue, from Lewers Street to Uluniu Anenue. Shutting those streets down to traffic, a number of booths take over the space, featuring local cuisines and traditional ethnic fare. Celebrating the harmonious relationship between Hawaii and Japan, the festival also features cultural influences from both areas of the Pacific, with live music, drum, and dance performances, from hula to taiko. The festival always highlights a popular Hawaiian celebrity entertainer, as well as its sister festival, the Pan-Pacific Hula Festival, which takes place at the same time on Kuhio Beach at Diamond Head. The celebration culminates in a grand parade with hundreds of marchers in colourful, traditional costumes, including drummers, fan dancers, and yosakoi troupes.
