General Info

The Department Of Human Services operates under the government of the state of Hawaii. It administers a variety of programs to promote the independence, health, personal dignity and self-sufficiency of residents. The department is comprised of Housing Support, youth services, and benefit, employment and support services divisions. The Department Of Human Services maintains a fatherhood commission that promotes healthy relationships between parents and children. It also operates the Vocational Rehabilitation and Services for the Blind Division (VRSBD), which administers several programs that feature a range of services for the rehabilitation needs of individuals with disabilities. Additionally, the department s benefit, employment and support services division offers services in the areas of investigations, staff development, and financial and food stamps assistance. The Department Of Human Services maintains a presence in Honolulu.
