Ala Moana Pawn Shop

Absolutely was just disgusted with whoever called me from the "Ala Moana Pawn Shop". And I don't even go to that shop, Thank God! My mom however does go over there to pawn jewelry.

But anyway, There was a guy who has just called me has such a disgusting attitude. He don't need to call someone house talking to anyone in such a horrible way. When I first answered the phone, He don't say, Good Afternoon, or hello, or even give out his name. Just say my mom's name in such a serous rude matter. Then kinda yells at me in a way about a jewelry that my mom needs it to pick up, & so on. And when I ask for the number, The guy however did not even give it to me like I asked. He just says.."This is Ala moana Pawn shop". Pff like that helped! I had to goggle the number to find out myself.

I have never been a customer with the pawn shop, or even thinking of being a customer with them. But for a worker to call up a customer to talk to someone in such a nasty way must be running a horrible business. And would recommend this place to ANYONE.

I've been going there for maybe 15 -20 yrs. Haven't bought a few nice pieces over that time period, but have bought jewelry. I've been very happy with my purchases, the service from the men who work there as well as the owner. I've also had a few pieces repaired and reduced or increased in size. The work has been excellent and prices fair. What more can you ask for? Beats prices in a jewelry store!

Interesting that the guy who posted a one star with Ala Moan Buy and Sell also posted a 5 star with Kamaaina Metals & Jewelry. I used to live in Hawaii and I can remember the days when Ala Moana Pawn shop was the only shop that bought and sold gold per gram. All the other shops used to use pennyweights (which are 1.55 grams). Interesting thing is, Ala Moana Pawn shop showed up and paid 33% more per gram than Kamaaina Metals who used to advertise on TV all the time. Ask any old timers and they will tell you how Kamaaina Metals used to be on Queen street only a few blocks from Ala Moana Pawn. They eventually moved because everyone in town new Ala Moana gave the most in town. Sounds like Chris is a scammer that's looking to trash a business and funnel stuff to his buddies shop.

I travel to Hawaii every 3 years and I still go into Ala Moana Buy and Sell (Don't know why they changed the name). All I can say is, don't ask for stuff unless you have the money to put down...simple rule in gold...Money talks and B.S. walks.

With that type of business I don't expect to be treated nice, until I've proven myself. Luckily I did that years ago before the guy was robbed and seems a little bit more stand offish to new people these days. All around great guys, but don't go in expecting to see anything until they know you mean business.

i wish there was a lower rating than one star...these guys are rip off and their attitude towards customers is terrible. when asking about items in the shop the owners were very ambiguous and never answered my questions and then slammed the door in my face when they determined "they had enough"...AVOID DOING BUSINESS with these guys if possible.

I took my old jewery to several other Pawn shops in the Honolulu area, but Ala Moana Buy & Sell gave me the most money for my jewery. Since then they are the only Pawn shop I will go to, quick and friendly service. It is interesting to stop by to see what they have there.
