Insects and Spiders

Ants
As a general rule, it will take 2-3 weeks after the first service date to see complete results. The ants will sometimes get worse before it gets better but know that all of the products we use are actively working to eradicate the problem. If after 3 weeks you still have more than an occasional ant, give us a call and we would be more than happy to do a retreatment.
Spiders
VanDenBerge Pest Control has serviced our home since 2002 mainly for mice, wasps, spiders, and ants. We entertain a lot and our guests love a wasp-free backyard. We appreciate how Tim adjusts his schedule to meet ours and always with a smile.
Termites
More then likely, these are termite swarmers and not ants. Termites will normally swarm in the spring on a warm day after we have had some rain. This swarm will only last an hour or two but don’t be fooled, you more then likely have termites in your home. Call us for a free inspection!
Bed Bugs
Currently, we do not treat for bedbugs. We would recommend that you contact ether Aardvark Pest Management or Rose Pest Solutions for further information.

Definitely NOT! Plugging up the bees only entry point to there nest will trap the vast majority of them inside your home. Those bees will not just give up and die off, instead, they will look for another way out. Quite often, that way out is by chewing through your drywall and getting into your home. Wasps
We have had your service at our house since 1994 and at our Restaurant since 1997. Your service has always been very dependable and professional. Any problems that arise have always been dealt with quickly. At home any additional concerns have also been taken care of very quickly. The big black ants and the wasps seem to be under control. Ticks
Earwigs
We had an infestation of carpenter ants and earwigs a couple of years ago. Since we have used VanDenBerge Pest Control, no ants and only a couple of earwigs have been sighted. In the past, we had VanDenBerge Pest Control’s service for a year and then stopped. Within 6 months the bugs were back. We now have on-going service and we have not had problems since.
Flies
Usually a lot of house flies indicated a mouse died in the walls or attic and the only thing you can do is vacuum up the ones you can and they will disappear in 4-6 days. If they are smaller fruit flies and not house flies, the best and only treatment is finding the source of the flies and getting rid of it. Call us for more details.
Beetles
Most Homes and Buildings on the market require a pest inspection for wood destroying insects. The Home or Building must complete a thorough Termite, Carpenter Ant, and Powder-Post Beetle inspection. Van Den Berge’s home pest control services look for shelter tubes of termites, wings of termites, live or dead carpenter ants, frass (saw dust) from carpenter ants, frass/exit holes from powder-post beetles, and/or damaged wood from any wood-destroying insect. If there are any problems in sight, we must complete a remedy before final sale. We are authorized and experienced to inspect and report on many financing ( FHA, HUD, VA, and Conventional) and any Home/Building.

Boxelder Bugs
Boxelder bugs will only enter your home in the fall months to try and survive the cold winter. If you see them in the spring, that is an indication that they successfully entered your home in the fall and are waking up from there winter “hibernation”. We can treat for them in the fall to prevent them from entering your home as best as possible. We do not treat for them in the spring as the problem almost always takes care of itself after a few weeks.

Bats
In the short term, grab a tennis racket and practice your forehand. For a more permanent solution, we recommend you call Vamoose Varmint for all your bat control needs.

We do not treat for wildlife in and around your home. If you have issues with anything larger than a mouse, we recommend that you call Lakeshore Wildlife Removal.

Woodpeckers
The vast majority of the time woodpeckers are not going after insects in your home/wood. They are trying to attract a mate, defend/establish their territory and simply because they like the sound. You can try and keep them away from your home with reflective tape, aluminum foil around posts and loud noises. Remember, persistence is key!
