First Academy Preschool & Daycare Center

My child's experience at First Academy was beyond disappointing; I'd classify it more as being detrimental. My toddler became increasingly more petrified of going, wouldn't (or was afraid to) eat there, and started to become withdrawn and hostile at home. After several conversations with leadership, I was repeatedly told 'this is normal' along with other comments that implied I, and my child, were in the wrong. It isn't normal for a child's eyes to be black and blue and swollen everyday from crying so hard and so long; while the teachers log reports, "Had a good day.". It took several months for my child to finally be able to verbalize what exactly was going on. My child was threatened by a teacher. Unacceptable. If you're child goes here, please find an alternate daycare/preschool if your child shows any negative actions or responses towards going or if anything else doesn't completely add up. I witnessed other children being hit by their classmates, overheard children being screamed at, and several other significant concerns that were all completely disregarded. It's very disturbing when a group/organization promises to nurture and care for a child and then proves to do the exact opposite. No child deserves what my child went through and what I saw other children going through.

If I could give this place a negative rating, I would. It's a shame this place is associated with a local Church. While this was some time ago...I was employed at this location for a short time. I've witnessed the way some of the "teachers" behaved towards children attending First Academy, and it was terrible. One woman went as far as grabbing a 2 year old by his arm and pinched him. Some of the others would yell loudly in the children's faces and very close to their ears, whenever the kids weren't paying attention. Mind you, these were small children, some were toddlers! I had quite a difficult time dealing with this and brought it to the attention of the person who was in charge at the time. She shrugged it off and looked at me as if she was thinking "What's your point?" NOTHING was done about the woman who pinched the 2 year old. I was there for less than a week...I quit and walked out after saying a few words to the woman in charge.
