Established in 1926, Highlands Elementary School is a Title I campus that offers academic classes to students in grades two through five. The school is a part of the Goose Creek Consolidated independent School District and is located in Highlands, Texas. It offers teaching in a variety of subjects, such as English, reading, speech, writing, math, science and social studies. In addition, the school provides specialized programs in physical education, art, music and computer skills. It operates a students council and parent-teacher association. It maintains a cafeteria, gymnasium, amphitheater, library, media center, and computer and art labs. The campus is an internship site for the students of the University of Houston. The school organizes various programs, including drug abuse resistance, special and bilingual education; and gifted and talented, ventures accelerated, volunteer parent and student recognition programs.
