The Herndon Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency that provides a range of professional police services in The Town of Herndon in Virginia. It offers community policing, crime prevention, traffic and pedestrian safety and public information services. The department also provides investigative and 24-hour patrol coverage services. The Herndon Police Department maintains a staff of more than 50 sworn officers and over 15 support personnel. It operates the Citizen s Police Academy for senior citizens. The agency s crime prevention services include residential and business security and safety checks and neighborhood and fleet watch and personal and work safety programs. Established in 1879, the Herndon Police Department is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies and the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission.
