General Info

Located in Herndon, Va., the Parks and Recreation Department is part of town services. It provides a comprehensive park and recreation program, including sports facilities, festivals and special events. The department oversees the operation of the Herndon Community Center, which offers a comprehensive leisure program and encompasses a multipurpose room, gymnasium, racquetball courts, meeting room and kitchens. It also offers game, preschool, and arts and crafts rooms. Its aquatics facility provides a wide range of services that include indoor swimming pool, whirlpool, sauna, shower, lockers, and diving and instructional areas, and it also offers an indoor tennis center. The department also sponsors many special events, such as the Herndon Festival, Summer Concert Series, Labor Day Jazz Festival and Folk Fest, and it also oversees the operation of nine neighborhood parks, including Bready, Bruin, Runnymede and Chandon parks.
