Like "Lord of the Flies?"

That's what the PK2 room looks like. The kids hit and disobey the teachers, and the new director only rounds on the room when I'm present (after a month of complaining of safety concerns).

We loved this center for 18 months, and are heartbroken that they could not regain control of this room.

If I could give it a zero I would. I've actually worked in the academy and i really wish I never have. The biting and safely problems are always a problem. It's not even really the teachers fault it's management. I had seven biters in my class and I called and called up front crying and my manager told me to redirect but it didn't work. I tried literally everything and I didn't get any help. If you call out they get mad. Even if you are throwing up they still expect to come in even if you have germs that can spread to the children. I was always sick because they would never send children home when they had fevers. the only good thing about that place is the teachers. Well some of them. Most of them just start drama. It's like being in high school again. So I wouldn't recommend this child care center for your child.

The management has selected an outstanding staff to facilitate best instructional practices. I have two children enrolled, who have exemplified tremendous educational growth that has prepared them to be contributing students in their school of zone. The curriculum engages, equips, and empowers children to be successful life long learners.

Unfortunately, I need to edit my review... although I adore the teachers and facility, we had to remove our daughter due to safety concerns. Our child was bitten 4 times in 6 weeks by the same child. Biting where you could count teeth and see drag marks. Biting issues had been ongoing with this same child for the past year and a half... We have incident reports for more than 20 bites... and had been incredibly understanding (probably too much so)... Anyway, the answer from The Academy had always been to move my child up to the next class before she was ready. So after the biter moved up to my child's current class, my child was bitten 4 times in 6 weeks, as I said previously. After the 3rd time, we called DHS, as well as scheduled a meeting with the director. The director told me and others that the next time the child bit, she would be removed from the center. However, apparently, the director told DHS that the child would be placed on a 3 strike probation (which seems bizarre after biting my child 3 times, and numerous other children in her class multiple times). There was also a 3rd teacher placed in the classroom to shadow the biter. However, within 2 weeks, my child was bitten again - for the 4th time.. IN 6 WEEKS. After this bite occurred, the assistant director asked if the marks from the bite would just go away if they waited to call me. When we arrived at the center, the assistant director looked me straight in the face, and tried to tell me that the child had had no attempts to bite since they had placed a 3rd teacher in the class. However, there were reported logs of 7 attempts to bite in a 5 day period. The reason this child has not been dismissed is because management likes her family - regardless of the fact that this child bites her classmates, and bites and hits her teachers. And while the biting is a huge issue, it was the lying and attempts to cover up the biting that ultimately forced us to remove our child. What happens when she bites on the face or leaves a scar? It is simply not safe... and to lie about the issue simply because you like the family is unacceptable. Of course, when confronted with the issue by other parents, the assistant director denied everything, which would be expected by a dishonest managment team. I would have to advise against sending your child here, strictly due to the fact that the management is incredibly dishonest. I would recommend taking your child elsewhere... at least while current operational practices are in place.

Every day you walk in the school, your greeted by the friendly people at the front desk. The director, Amanda Davis will help you and your child get comfortable and give you such piece of mind! The staff know all the children and create such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It is evident that the teachers are knowledgeable, loving and truly enjoy what they do. We love being an Academy family!!
