New Construction
Willard and DiLoreto Halls built originally in 1957 and 1966, have a combined area of approximately 105,000 GSF. Extensive programming was required at the start of the project to prepare a complete reallocation of space across all departments with a significant new program defined as One-Stop Student Services.Â This project connects, upgrades and expands Willard and DiLoreto Halls. Approximately 35,000Â SF of new construction has been added between, creating a commons, connecting the buildings. The new commons will serve as the heart of the new complex.

Landscaping and Fencing

Landscaping
Design an iconic museum to celebrate the challenge spirit and promote learning for future generations. Design Developed Goals: create a memorable image for visitors â€“ evoking the human spirit facing challenges; establish harmony between the museum, surrounding mountains and farms; articulate the major areas â€“ the Planetarium, Legacy Hall, the Museum, and the Educational components. The design concept is inspired by thespiral, a geometric form that occurs throughout nature, such as â€“ a Hurricane, a Galaxy, and a Shell. Each space is reflective of the entrepreneurial spirit with an architectural expression that is â€œinnovative, dynamic, accessible and contemporaryâ€ . Focus Areas: Physically Challenging: Walking, Ziplining, Hiking; Canoeing; Camping; Roping Environmentally Sensitive Landscaping: collecting rain water for the greenroof; Study drought- tolerant grasses; Observe dams creating different looking landscapes Organic Farming: Experience organic vegetable gardens and orchards; See organic animal farming, free-range feeding, and humane treatment of animals; Visit a sod farm growing drought-tolerant grasses. A glass wall displaying life under our feet; Visit the tree of life.Â

Window Installation/Replacement
TSKP STUDIOâ€™s design transforms both the aesthetics and the energy efficiency of the two buildings. Replacing the bands of windows, adding a new sloped metal roof and a glass wall into a large-scale portico complements the scale and architectural vocabulary of the adjacent Davidson Hall. A strategy for adding insulation throughout the building envelope along with energy efficient windows and doors and the prevalence of natural light provides a dramatic improvement to energy conservation and building performance. TSKP STUDIO is the lead design firm with Tecton Architects serving as Associate Architect.
Siding
The design for the Welles-Turner Memorial Library is fresh and modern, while retaining historical and traditional elements that carefully knit the building into the existing contextual fabric of the town. With deference to the original building, which was constructed on the site of the former home of its first benefactor Harriet Welles Turner Burnham, the addition exterior is clad with materials reminiscent of the Townâ€™s rural past, such as stone walls and clapboard siding. Modern windows, skylights, and energy-saving LED lighting wash the interior with light and connect it viscerally with its surroundings.
Residential Roof Repair
Utilizing the rain screen exterior along with a high reflective roofing material, a 5â€ rigid roofing insulation, and low-e glazing with strategically located ceramic fritting gives the facility a energy efficient building envelope reducing energy usage. The prevalence of natural light throughout the school is a significant factor in reduced energy demands, as well as it creates an environment that lifts the human spirit and elevates the sense of well being for staff and students.Â
Residential Roof Replacement/Installation

Insulation
Guilford received nearly $650,000 in energy-efficiency incentives by working with Eversource and Southern Connecticut Gas. Energy strategies include radiant heating and cooling floors, daylight harvesting, increased insulation, earth ducts that provide supplemental conditioning, thermal mass corridors, and cogeneration.
