        Dr. Shyam L. Garg has been serving this community longer than any other physician on the coast. For the last 25 years, he has been offering comprehensive medical care to children of all ages. His patients range in age from infants to those in their 90s. All these years he has lived here in Hampstead. He and his wife, Pratishtha, have worked hard, along with so many employees, to take HMC to the highest level. Their sons, Akash and Asheesh, grew up right here in Hampstead
        Business History
        In the winter of 1984, Dr. Garg was introduced to a little, beautiful town on the East Coast by the name of Hampstead. It was love at first sight. He was a young physician who was working as the chief resident in the internal medicine department at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He started his medical practice on January 1, 1985. Initially, he was serving at two (2) offices, one at Surf City, the Topsail Islands, and the other in Hampstead. Soon the people of Hampstead made him so busy that he had no choice but to make Hampstead Medical Center (HMC) his only full-time office. He took some loans and bought his home and built his office right in the heart of Hampstead.
