The arrival of a new baby is one of life’s most exciting events. At Memorial Birthplace, we want to make your baby’s birth a warm, comfortable, and joyous experience. Our private birthing rooms allow you to remain in one room during labor, delivery, and recovery (LDR Room). These homelike, spacious, comfortable rooms are equipped with state-of-the-art technology to ensure safety that only a hospital can offer. A team dedicated to the baby attends all births. Should the need arise, a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is available at Memorial for sick infants and newborns. Following your recovery, you will be moved into a comfortable, family-centered mother/baby suite. Each spacious suite includes a sofa, rocking chair, TV, and private bath. Your baby may stay in the room with you. Should the need arise, a nesting nursery for your baby is available from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Our experienced nurses will be there to care for you and your baby. They will answer your questions and teach you how to care for your newborn, so you can return home feeling prepared and confident with your baby. Memorial Breastfeeding Center is the regional center for breastfeeding education and assistance on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. When it comes to your baby's nutrition only the best should do. Memorial Breastfeeding Center is staffed by Registered Nurse / International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC). A woman’s journey through life takes her through various stages including childbearing, midlife, and beyond. From breast care to mental health and counseling, from pregnancy and childbirth to cardiac health, Memorial is committed to keeping pace with the growth, changes and special health needs unique to a woman’s life.
