This community is a great place for seniors that want to maintain their independence and have a safe environment. I have worked in the Senior Living industry for years and I have been affiliated with The Carillon for more that 5 years. I know the folks that work there very well, and I know they are very caring and compassionate! There is a true sense of community and it really is a family there! I would recommend this community to anyone of my family members or friends.

I lived at the Carillon last year and was very very disappointed as a 60 year old senior.

The fire alarms went off 1-3 times daily in the whole building which is not only annoying but would continue for 20 minutes or longer and you never knew if there was a real threat or not which is a huge expense for the tax payers of Greensboro to have fire trucks out their continually.

If you had a maintenance problem like I did several, you have to let the front desk know and they will tell you this isn't a nursing home but an independent living facility, I am in a wheelchair and can't walk, I asked for the handle on my refrigerator to be fixed when a screw fell off, it never was. I called 12-14 times about the toilet backing up or problems and I was brought a plumbers friend and told to do it myself or get my Son to do it! The vent on the stove didn't work but about a month and my smoke alarm went off everytime my aids would cook breakfast! The dishwasher didn't run hot water and the dryer element didn't work and when I called about that shortly after I moved in, Nicole at the front desk said Tim the maintenance man said to run the water in the sink on hot while I was washing dishes, never did help and the heater element never was fixed. Barbara Paris the executive director made cruel and degrading remarks to me about my disabilities, purposely got into my business that was not of her concern and when events were held which was not often in the great room made no effort for myself or others in wheelchairs to be able to even get in, I couldn't even go to most things unless I came down about an hour early. The front doors are locked at 9pm and you have to wait for someone to come to the door and left you in like a child out on a date. Cruel and snide remarks were made with earshot of the front desk when I was in the lobby that could be overheard by Ms. Paris and her assistant Nicole. The van that they take residents in to the events that they have planned doesn't accomadate wheelchairs or rollators, if you wish to participate, you have to pay for your own way otherwise. There are a lot of nice complexes for seniors in Greensboro with a much better rate than $703 a month for a one bedroom. You have to pay for your cable to the Carillion for basic service, they give you no choice. yet they get an excellent discount thru Time Warner and could let the residents have the service for about $20-$25 a month as most of the nursing homes do. Don't let the ads on tv fool you, it's like a beautiful book cover, nice on the outside, but a bunch of junk inwardly!
