Overall

They should change their name to the "Dusty Out of Date Gear Store".

The GEE-tawr CNTR in Greensboro is one of those typical music stores where every employee has some old war story about music production or claims to be some veteran aficionado who knows Mick Jagger or owns an old guitar pick who used to belong to Jimi Hendrix. Yeah, okay. Sometimes I walk in just to see what's new in the stocks. First off, there NEVER seems to be anything new in the damn store at all. I'll see YouTube videos teasing me for 3 years before it shows up. The same old tired selection, nothing different or innovated, but blame the manufacturers too. If i try to special order something I have to pay up first - okay cool...but the GC in Raleigh will actually order it first and then allow me to pay once it comes to the store. Weird and inconsistent policy. Impossible to get any assistance or help, same stale faces working on the floor and I always leave the place feeling as though I have been vampirized of my time. I hate browsing for something that you want very badly, but it never seems to be available in the physical store - this is enough to make you grit your teeth. The few times I was able to get help or information, the advice was either poor or just plain incorrect. Used items are over-priced and if you are thinking of selling / trading your gear BEWARE. You might come out better dealing with some raunchy pawn shop down the street. I once traded in a piece of gear not even 2 months old and these fools wold not honor the true value of the equipment. They offered me 1/10 of the price I originally spent for it. Not fair practice at all. If there were a Sam Ash or any competitor in this area, I would say screw GC in a second. Not to be disrespectful to these people, but the thing about respect is that you must give it in order to receive it. The real tragedy is that I have sort of given up on walking into stores and being harassed or ignored by the sales team and would much rather make an anonymous online purchase. You have been warned.

exceptional

My husband and I have many children and we took six to the guitar center they let the kids and adults may I add try and play all the instruments they have it takes a minute to get used to the noise but if your a parent like my husband and myself this is the most wonderful sound you will ever hear, by the way four of them are playing now even my husband. The reason I am writing this review is because we recently went to another store in Greensboro and the children were looking around and there were a few nasty comments made to them I walked out with my money I might add and went back to the Guitar center and purchased my items there. Its like an adventure and we try to take the children there at least once a week and they never get tired, thumbs up to you at the guitar center we love your place and please don't ever change, congratulations on a job well done.
