American Wilderness Campground & Event Center

Very scenic, large spacious sites, big camp store lodge and game room, playgrounds and basket ball. These are just a few of the fun things we did at this nice park. Staff is very friendly and the park is very clean and inviting. When we come this way we will visit again.

Ok.....so.....I've read some negative comments about this campground! has been a permanent camper at AWC for 8 seasons. The staff go over and above normal respect and care for their camper's comfort, enjoyment, and fun events planned. Yes there has been some discord and some campers who were abusing the rules and quiet enjoyment of all. These few have been dealt with swiftly. This is a family friendly campground and I think if those who were unhappy gave AWC another try, they would be most pleased at the changes. I for one, am not going anywhere else. I love it here.

Dusty roads, poor security, bathrooms dark & musty, port-a-potty bathrooms extremely unpleasant, camp store has weird, limited hours, but our biggest complaint were the other campers. Rude, drunk, noisy, foul mouthed campers allowed to party until 3AM. When I complained the next day I was told they were "regulars." So that's what you're likely to encounter.
