Antlers Inn

The smell in the room was of disinfectant which is gone. The Hotel has gone under a major over haul in the past year or so since 2012 and all rooms have new flat screen tv's that are 37 Inch HD with HDMI Ports and the whole 9 yards, its possibly better than your TV at home unless you have a huge flat screen in your living room. The rooms also have DISH NETWORK SATALITE HD TELEVISION which was freakin awesome as it had all the channels which are popular like discovery, science, VH1, MTV, and even local channels, pretty much over 100 shows, bathrooms had a complete overhaul as well and the same could be said with carpet as well. The furniture inside the rooms have also changed and the beds are as comfy as ever. Service was great and I like the new parking lot as well. Major refurbishing done, I think its the third one done now. The whole reason for the nasty room smell was just disinfectant that's it, I even went in and asked as I saw the first review with disbelief.

In recent years, I've become used to having to watch my spending carefully. Just like Gas & Food, Hotel/Motel rates have risen dramatically. I travel for a living and while the rates have gone up, the quality of service has gone down. I can't even afford the big chain hotels anymore. I'm at the Antlers Inn, Goliad while typing this and the past 3 days here have been so pleasant that I had to take the time to let others know about it. I met the owner my first day and hope to see him again before I leave to find out what motivates him and his staff to go the extra mile for their customers. My first night here, the soda machine was out of my favorite brad. The front desk saw me and asked me what kind of problem I was having. When I said that it seemed to be sold out of Pepsi, He invited me in the office and came out of the attached apartment with an ice cold Pepsi and said, "this is on the house" and apologized for any inconvenience..

DISGUSTING SMELL IN THE ROOM!! Stay away from this motel as there are other motels in the vicinity. I wouldn't stay at the ANTLERS INN again. We booked a room and arrived late at night and checked in. When we walked into the room, we noticed a strong chemical smell. Even after opening the windows and turning up the AC, it still persisted. When checking out the next morning, we asked about it. The manager told us that they use a commercial grade deodorant or air freshener to cover up smells in the room that are left by people and the animals that they bring to the motel. If you have allergies, this is not the place for you. Even if you don't have allergies, I would advise one to stay away from this place.
