Established in 1996, Parks and Recreation is one of the departments governed by the city of Germantown in Tennessee, which also operates administration, public services, finance and fire departments. The department organizes a variety of leisure activities for individuals. It has various divisions, including administration, building maintenance, parks, recreation and vehicle maintenance. The department offers recreational activities that include dance, movie nights, cookouts, holiday parties, and outings for people with mental and physical disabilities. The department operates an athletic club and organizes various events, such as ball nights, karaoke parties and jam sessions. The Parks and Recreation department maintains several parks, sports complexes and green spaces. It also maintains athletic fields and courts, biking and walking trails, picnic areas and playgrounds.
