We have had a lot of painters come and give us estimates. One guy brought his girlfriend and walked around the property for a few minutes (without even knocking on the door) and then when I asked if I could help him, he just said no, and kept walking around the property. Then he had the nerve to come tell me he estimated it would cost 9,000 to paint our house. Didn't take any measurements or anything, and when I asked if he could email me a written estimate, he laughed and said he didn't own a computer. The next guy showed up with a cigarette in his hand and smelled like paint thinner. He told me he would have to have a paint chip tested for lead as our home was built before 1970's and there were new lead laws in place. He came over the next day saying the paint chip came back negative and wanted 3,000 to paint our house (the same house the other guy wanted 9 grand to paint-?!- and could he start tomorrow. We found out it took at least a week to test for lead so the guy lied to us about the test...GC Wallcovering gave us a written estimate, sent out the test for lead, and used the proper procedure when the amount of lead was tested to be out of the safety range by a real lab. You might get someone else to paint your house, but if you want a company you can trust, you should call these guys.
