Glaucoma
Treatment of glaucoma depends on the type and severity of glaucoma. There are a wide variety of available medical and surgical treatments today, ranging from prescription eyedrops and noninvasive lasers to more aggressive surgical procedures that are needed for more serious cases. The goal for most treatments is to safely reduce eye pressure which in turn slows down the progression of the disease. At Fry Eye Associates your physician will strive to maximize the balance of safety and effectiveness in determining which treatment is best indicated for each patients’ unique scenario. The end-goal of any of these treatments is always the same: prevent vision loss from glaucoma.

Macular Degeneration
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a leading cause of vision loss in the United States. Damage to the central retina from this condition can result in permanent loss of vision.
Laser Eye Surgery
The most common form of retinal detachment occurs when a tear develops in the retina and fluid passes through the opening and pushes the retina up off the back of the eye. A retinal tear may develop for several reasons. The most common reason is a result of aging, when the vitreous gel separates from the retina and pulls on it hard enough to create a tear. Other risk factors include being very near-sighted, having a family history of retinal detachment, previous retinal detachments or tears and previous trauma or eye surgery.
Cataracts
Inside your eye is a lens that focuses light and helps you to see. Normally this lens is clear, but as we age, it gradually gets less clear and more cloudy. This cloudy lens is called a cataract. This condition affects your ability to see clearly. It is like looking through a foggy or dusty car windshield. This cloudy vision can make it more difficult to read or drive a car (especially at night due to glare), and it also makes colors appear less bright. Cataracts usually develop in both eyes, although in some people, a cataract will develop more quickly in one eye than the other.
Cataract Surgery
Cataract surgery can restore vision lost when the natural lens in your eye becomes cloudy and blurs your vision. This outpatient procedure involves mild sedation and minimal recovery time. In most cases, you’ll be able to resume your normal activities the day after surgery.
Eye Exam
When you come in for a diabetic eye exam, your doctor uses eyedrops to dilate your pupils in order to get a better look at the inside of your eyes to evaluate for damage. Your doctor may also use special cameras to better visualize the retina and its blood vessels, such as optical coherence tomography (OCT) that takes cross-section images of your retina. These images help your doctor to assess the health your retina.

If you have diabetes, you are at risk for developing diabetic retinopathy, a condition that affects the blood vessels in your eyes and can lead to vision problems. Regular eye examinations are important in the early detection of this condition.

Blepharoplasty
Dermatochalasis refers to the droopy appearance of your eyelids related to excessive overhanging eyelid skin that most commonly occurs as you age. Aging causes your skin to lose collagen, an essential protein that keeps it firm and healthy. Less collagen causes the skin on your eyelids to sag and eventually hang over your eye, which can impair your vision.
