Legal Separation
In Maryland, there are two types of divorce: Absolute Divorce and Limited Divorce. An absolute divorce permanently ends the marriage, terminates any property claims, and permits remarriage. A limited divorce does not end the marriage and does not permit remarriage. But it does provide for support and legalizes the separation. A limited divorce is Maryland’s form of legal separation.
Annulment
Divorce can be difficult under the best of circumstances. In Maryland, you can get a no-fault divorce. This means that you would not need to allege that your spouse did something wrong in order to get a divorce. You would just need to show a voluntary separation for 12 months or an involuntary separation for two years. Alternatives to divorce include legal separation and annulment. If the grounds for divorce happened outside Maryland, one spouse needs to have resided in Maryland for at least a year before filing for the divorce. Visas

In order to divorce on the ground that your spouse has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor, the party must show that their spouse was convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in any state, was sentenced to at least three (3) years in prison, and has served at least twelve (12) months of that sentence prior to filing for divorce.
Drug Crimes
Crimes can be divided into two general groups: misdemeanors and felonies. Misdemeanors are considered less serious in Maryland, carrying fewer and less significant penalties than felonies do. Usually, sentences for misdemeanors include no more than 12 months in prison and/or minor fines.
