These guys have really good pizza there. Surprised to find this place in the little town of Fuquay. Great find.

This is not good pizza!!

We tried it twice, pizza was the worst. Obviously they know nothing about making NY style pizza.

Horrible Customer Service

If you don't mind getting ignored for good pizza than stop on by. This place is horrible. They get no points in my book for good, or hell, even decent customer service! My boyfriend and I had a rare moment together so we decided to go get some lunch. There were a total of 2 other patrons sitting in the restaurant when we arrived, and 1 of the cooks was taking his lunch. We ordered a 1/2 cheese pizza & 1/2 mushroom/ pepperoni, since I cannot have mushrooms I told the waitress to omit the mushrooms on the Cheese side. I didn't think that would a big deal. After we ordered our food, it was a good 10 minutes before the cook even STARTED to make our pizza! But what really pissed me off was as she was making our pizza, the phone rang, she stopped what she was doing, answered the phone and said "Oh, HI BOB!" And proceeded to have her little friendly chat instead of making our food!! 5 minutes into her conversation, the cook, who was taking his lunch, saw how displeased we were, got up, washed his hands and finished making our food and placed it in the oven. She soon got off the phone after that and was completely nonchalant about it all, a good 15 minutes later we got our pizza. And wouldn't you know there were mushrooms on the Cheese side of the pizza! How hard is it to put mushrooms on one side???

Apparently its super difficult for these idiots. I will admit one thing, there pizza is good, not the best though, I much prefer places like I <3 NY Pizza, off Hillsborough St. in Raleigh, which is a good 40 minute drive for me.

Aside from the cook who could give a S@&T, the waitress was very cold. Her attitude was horrible. She never asked us how we were or anything, it was strictly what do you want, and more tea. I will NEVER go back there ever again and every time I pass by there and see people sitting inside I think how displeased they must be just as my boyfriend and I were.

Look elsewhere

This was our first visit to J&S and was also our last. We like trying new places so we figured we'd give em a shot. The first red flag was when we went to order a Sicilian and were told that they were out of Sicilian pizza. Seriously, a place that boasts itself as a NY Pizza joint runs out of Sicilian pizza? That's just poor management of a restaurant.

We then decided to go with the "garbage" pizza (which lived up to its name, but more on that in a minute) and some garlic knots. We were then promptly told that they may not have any garlic knots left either and that they'd have to check. A slow and uncrowded Sunday evening and they are out of 2 items.....second red flag.

Turns out they had 4 garlic knots left, so we got the last of the bunch. The garlic knots were decent, larger than I've seen elsewhere (priced individually at $.70 a piece) and served on a plate with olive oil and crushed garlic. We ordered the "garbage" pizza which is basically one of those supreme or everything on it versions, with one important note. We ordered it without onions. After a fair amount of waiting, (don't expect a 10 minute pizza here) our "garbage" pizza arrived.........loaded with you guessed it, onions. After sending it back and advising we'd like another one without onions we sat and waited patiently again.

The second pizza came out strangely faster (closer to the 10 minute mark this time) and was anything but extraordinary. The crust was doughy in the center and visibly undercooked, which explained the quicker turnaround time from the kitchen. Overall it was just a very plain and uninteresting pizza of which could have easily been made better at home. Strike three.

We ate 3 slices as we were starving and left the rest of the pizza and headed out the door. I absolutely hate wasting food and always bring leftovers home to eat later, however this just wasn't worth taking home. Maybe it was just the whole negative experience we had from the beginning, I don't know.

Whatever happened to the old days when the owner or at least manager of a locally owned business would come out to the table and ask how everything was, especially after food was sent back to the kitchen? I wasn't fishing for a refund or anything, just a small gesture for a reason to go back and try again some other time.

There are just too many other good pizza joints in the area to give J&S a second look.

Overall
worth the wait

I love their food, it does take planning to eat there. They cook the food when you order it, they don't have a lot of food sitting around, so yes, it does take awhile. It's a good place to sit and chat while you wait for your food. It's not the kind of place you go when you're starving. Plan on waiting an hour to eat and be pleasantly surprised if it's a shorter wait. Go with friends and sit and enjoy the company while waiting for good food.

Horrible service, will NEVER return.

I took my family to this establishment and we will never be going back. After continuing to wait for over an hour, we complained that it was taking too long for a simple cheese pizza. In the mean time everyone that had been seated after us, had their food and was finished. The server argued with us loudly that he had not made an error and that there was nothing he could do about our order. I cannot say enought, that we will never return to this place- there are far too many places you can for pizza to put up with the rudeness we faced. I even spoke to Phil, the manager that offered no recourse.

avoid this place

Long wait.... below average food.... TERRIBLE customer service. Fuquay Varina is in such dire need of restaurants, and this place is in a beautiful location, but we were extremely disapointed.

Worst Customer Service Ever!

My family ate at the Fuquay location. We had to wait for a table in front of a big sign stating "seat yourself". None of the staff approached or greeted us. We finally were seated. My family ordered 2 sweet teas. We were informed later that there was no sugar, and that we would have to change to order to soft drinks. There were no other alternatives. Between the initial wait and the lack of tea, my family's mood was glum. Then my fiance's food was brought out long before the other two orders were done. The staff kept approaching the table and explaining all of their problems to us, blaming each other, blaming the crowds, indirectly blaming us ( "you came at the busiest time" ) At no time did anyone say, "This is not the service we want to provide, what can we do for you to keep your business?" When my daughter's meal finally came out, it was wrong and had to be sent back. @ two hours after we walked in, our meal was on the table. By that time, we were so irate we had it packed up to go. We had to pay for two of the meals, and all three of the drinks (even the sodas we didn't really want) They gave us free cheese sticks (that we didn't ask for or want) The smallest order of smallest cheese sticks we have ever seen! Don't order their appetizers! Expensive, rude and the food was mediocre. The customer service was such that as we left they were very sarcastically saying "please come back to see us" and " have a nice night". They were angry that we did not have more compassion for their problems. The crowning comment was they could not find good waitresses in the community. Bottom line, the experience was about their problems, and not about our food not being on the table. If you want to experience aggression and poor service, this is the place.
