I've worn glasses for over 30 ...

I've worn glasses for over 30 years and Dr. Truong is the best optometrist I've ever had. She takes her time and is very, very thorough. For the first time, I realized how it felt to have a doctor care about your vision and getting the prescription right. I'm currently living in Berkeley and commute to see her and will continue to do so,

Dr. Truong has been in practice since 1990 after receiving her doctorate from U.C. Berkeley, School of Optometry with Honors. She received her Certificate for the Treatment & Management of Ocular Diseases in 1999 and Certificate of Completion of the Treatment & Management of Glaucoma in 2006.
Ophthalmology
OCT is a breakthrough in eye care that has allowed doctors to more easily detect eye disorders. In ophthalmology, OCT is used to capture detailed images of the eye. The information from OCT images helps ophthalmologists and optometrists to diagnose and manage potentially damaging ocular diseases which, if left untreated, can lead to blindness or seriously impact a person’s quality of life.

Cataracts
It is frequently used to analyze the corneal surface, especially in the field of cataract and refractive surgery. The Pentacam is one of the most commonly used commercially available systems for this purpose. Through a rotating Scheimpflug camera, the system is capable of creating a three-dimensional map of the cornea. These advances in tomography have simultaneously enhanced the ability of clinicians to screen surgical candidates and detect subtle corneal changes in diseases such as keratoconus.
Cataract Surgery
Pre-operative intraocular lens selectionDuring cataract surgery, an intraocular lens is placed in the eye to achieve the desired refractive outcome. Standard intraocular lenses only contain spherical correction. If a patient has regular corneal astigmatism, however, an astigmatism-correcting toric lens may be used. Corneal topography is a useful pre-operative test to assess the magnitude and regularity of corneal cylinder when selecting an intraocular lens implant prior to cataract surgery.

OCT has been, and is continuing, to be a rapidly evolving field helping to advance eye care. A recent major advance in OCT is OCT Angiography which allows imaging of the vascular structures of the eye, reducing the need for more invasive imaging approaches, such as fluorescein angiography. OCT Angiography provides non-invasive 3D images of blood flow in the eye to help clinicians detect retinal diseases earlier, such as diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration.

OCT functions much like an ultrasound system, but has much higher resolution. Where ultrasound systems use sound waves to capture images, OCT uses infrared light that is similar to the light of a TV remote control device.

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is an imaging technology that uses light waves to capture detailed, cross-sectional sub-surface images of transparent material.
