Overall
Technicians are not very knowledgeable

I contacted A A All Tech Appliance Service (d.b.a. Affordable Appliance Repair and Ajj Appliance Parts America and Appliance Parts America ) because they are an authorized Frigidaire service company and I was having a problem with me Frigidaire washer. I agreed to have a technician diagnose the problem for a $65 service call fee.

For starters, the technician, Warren, arrived three hours after he indicated he would without apology. He began asking me a series of questions because this issue had occurred once before about nine months earlier. Previously a technician from a different company resolved the issue. I was told it was due to a loose wire on the control board. Warren inspected the control board and everything seemed to be in good order with regards to the connecting cables.

Without checking out any additional components or doing any additional troubleshooting, Warren used the information I had given him to identify the control board as the bad part and wrote up an estimate for $350 + tax to cover the part and labor. I told him that I would need to think about it because that was more than half the cost of the washer.

I found a web site called www.applianceblog.com which offered do-it-yourselfers tips on installing components for my machine and they also offered me a good e-tailer to purchase a control board from for ~$100. I figured I would give it a shot.

Surprisingly replacing Control Board was a fairly easy task that I was able to complete myself in 20 minutes. However, after replacing the board the same behavior continued. Shortly after I swapped the old board back in and as I expected, no change.

I contacted another company, Peter of Accurate Appliance Service (732-935-1991) in central New Jersey. He was very knowledgeable, honest and willing to help me out over the phone. He said this is a common occurrence based on the description. He instructed me to look at the motor control board, a different control board located under the machine, for a loose wire. I noticed that one of the wires wire slightly off from where it should be. It wasn't obvious because it was under a flap and the wire in question was not one that snaps in like most others on the machine. It actually slides on and off fairly easily which probably came off during a rough cycle. This resolved the problem! I returned the unused control board for a full refund less return shipping.

I immediately contacted Affordable Appliance Repair, and spoke to the manager Sal, to let him know that the diagnosis I was given was incorrect because replacing the main control board did not resolve my problem as his tech indicated it would and that I could reproduce the problem again by simply removing the motor control board wire. I also told him that I could produce a sales receipt and return credit for the control board that did not resolve the problem. I asked for a refund because the diagnosis was incorrect. He said that he can only do that if I could produce a copy of a service bill from a Factory Authorized Frigidaire Service Company. Although Peter from Accurate Appliance Service is a Factory Authorized Frigidaire Service Company, he didnt send me an invoice because he was able to help me out through a five minute phone call.

So if you take anything away from this review, do not use this company because their technicians are not very knowledgeable and they have very poor business practices.
