Disabled Vet w/ service dog deigned access. I have explained the law several times to the owner, but he continues to hassle me and tells me my animal is not welcome.

Long time locals know that the current location this restaurant occupies has seen more than its fair share of failed restaurants and store fronts. In my opinion, having a location that is unfortunately attached to a “motel” of sorts – usually deters the majority of Fredericksburg’s discerning diners and shoppers. Being a lover of tex-mex though, I had to try them out. Surprisingly, the decor inside was very quaint and filled with Mexican pottery, the walls painted a desert orange giving the small space a bistro vibe - especially with the round iron-mesh style outdoor tables and chairs on the porch area. The complimentary chips and salsa were fresh and very tasty without being spicy. The sangria was good and had bits of cut up fruit. My dinner companion ordered the shrimp cocktail - Pueblo style for $7.99. I was really digging the atmosphere and we had just finished remarking about how we would come again, when the “shrimp” cocktail appetizer arrived. What arrived was a small cup on a saucer with two saltines and a spoon. The small cup filled with what looked to be the same salsa we received for free when we were seated, with bits of shrimp floating here and there in the tomato sauce. I mentioned to our waiter that there doesn’t seem to be enough shrimp in the shrimp cocktail, making it more of a shrimp salsa. (This is where they review goes downhill fast...) The waiter took great personal offense!! How odd. First he was defending: "We put three big shrimp in there, what more do you want?", then walking away, he had had a few seconds to think further and said, justifying (from across the room mind you) "Hey, gas prices are high, you know." As most waiters dont take such personal offense to a comment about lack of shrimp in shrimp cocktail - one can only assume that the waiter was really part owner, as we suspect the bartender to be also part owner. Not only did he take great offense at my observation, he proceeded to IGNORE me for the duration of our meal and speak only to my dinner companion!! --As a side note - the carne was tender and well seasoned, the chicken tender as well, the mexican rice very good and moist, however - the prices for everything on the menu are VERY high compared to what the amount of food you receive! I ordered three chicken flauntas (that had no other filling besides chicken making them slightly dry) a small portion of rice and a small portion of beans for $13.99 while my dinner companion ordered a meal of two small burrito-like filled small flour tortillas with a small portion of rice and beans for $11.99. Two meals, one appetizer and three sangrias put our final total to a staggering $48.72!!!!!!! The atmosphere is nice, the food is good, the service and prices are a little too uppity for this reviewer and companion. If you have some extra money to spend on a small amount of food, feel free to visit them for a meal while you can, like their predecessors, they won't be there very long.
