I was a boarder at this location when it was North Stream Farm and when it was Black Pegasus Farm. Both times I boarded at this farm my horse was relaxed and enjoyed being in a herd and outside all day. Black Pegasus turns the horses out whenever possible and they give them ample hay to munch on in the stalls and in t/o. However, there is no grass in many of the paddocks because they overcrowded the herds in the paddocks (under BPF ownership), the hay was dry, dusty, stalky and of low nutrative value, the "house-keeping" of the barn wasn't what it could be, but didn't bother me as much as the lack of understanding of horse care. I honestly never felt like the owners/workers knew much about horse health and disease. They feed the horses in the morning before giving them hay because they get hay in turnout--but some of the horses wait an hour after grain to get turned out to eat their hay. ((Hay starts the digestive process and buffers the gut via fiber and prevents excessive acid release and shocking the gut with concentrates (grain) which could lead to colic and ulcers.)) I am a very educated horse owner, have read many veterinary care books, and knew how to tell good forage from bad, and I honestly felt that the owners of this facility do not know how to tell good hay from bad, did not know how to establish good grassy fields, when a horse was "off", etc. Numerous times horses came in with cuts or lameness that went unnoticed. I don't think this was deliberate neglect but there's a bit of a gap in education and knowledge at this place. It's OK to start a farm and not know much--you learn by doing--but I honestly felt that there was no learning curve here.

It is a pretty place with potential and my horse was happy but the risk of injury or sickness and the likelihood of it going unnoticed made me uneasy and I left. My hope is that they will get educated and will be more open-minded to educated owners. I also hope they maintain a more manageable number of horses so less goes "unnoticed" and the farm can improve.

this place is just pure heaven for my BOYS !! It's the kind of place where horses of all breeds and backgrounds can let down the manes and kick up their heels at any age. Being a long time boarder there, before it became the Black Pegasus, my boys were at a barn in paddocks with mud a manure up to their knees in warm weather and, carefully trying to step to the hay wagon or water troft without falling in the winter; as well as myself trying to get them out. Once we found the Black Pegasus(previously known as North Stream) i knew my boys would be extremely happy and cared for with the best of care. It warms my heart to no end to know that owners like the previous one and, Theresa and Ian and the knowledgeable staff are always there to take care of them without a doubt and, my boys can grow well into their later years in life happy and safe. This is pure Heaven for them !!

I am a long time boarder (since 2006) at this location. I was happy with the facility when the prior owners were there (North Stream) and still reining happy with the current owners.

Horses here are happy (come see for yourself), well fed and looked over by professional, knowledgeable, caring owners and staff that I've personally witnessed going to extremes for the well being of our beloved horses in every weather condition.

Teresa and Ian were boarders at North Stream when I arrived and I liked them the very second we introduced ourselves. As fellow-boarders for years, I know them to be two of the most compassionate animal lovers that I've ever met. Those that say otherwise may have to admit to being blinded by something inertly diabolical in their perception. Talk to Teresa about the magnificent horses she has shared her life with and a lifetime of riding adventures. Talk to Ian about a vision for the future of the Black Pegasus, where current boarders see him, Teresa and his Dad working tireless on making improvements. Don't doubt for a second that this is their life, their home, a family-oriented commitment.

Everyone has an opinion and if we all owned our own barns, managing horses on our own property, everyone of us would make different decisions based on shifting needs. That is the plain truth!

My horses are safe, happy, well protected and I never worry about them when I'm not there. The Black Pegasus and North Stream before it have given my horses a home to grow old in and I've seen nothing now or then that made me doubt that this is the best place for them!

It is with great humor and concern that I have read these reviews about Black Pegasus. Obviously, people are concerned and the rebuttal's are the humorous part - especially knowing who they are coming from. Bitbucket always complained about the facility and lack of care. Many people did leave this farm recently - if the farm and care was as good as the other 2 reviewers state. - no one would have left.

I use to board there. The owners are lovely people as people, but NOT horse people. The staff (unless very recently replaced) DO NOT have any Equine Education at all. Neither do the owner(s) No one that has an Equine Degree is going to be mucking stalls. They own a construction type business. Why is it that every contractor who owns some horses think they are qualified to run a horse farm?

Yes, the place is beautiful - unfortunately it is very run down - especially the fences. Horses were getting loose all the time. The fencing is dangerous! The barn is OK, but, they do not bed them enough and the stalls are on pavement and do not drain. They were great about clean water buckets though! All the horses lost a tremendous amount of weight last winter. They must have been shorting feed as the rumor states. The outdoor riding ring is fine - if they would drag it and water it - that never happened. If you board there you have to be able to be hands on with your horse.

There is no Indoor Ring there as they promised -

It's a shame because the place could be very nice. I just don't think the owners realized what they were getting themselves into with regards to the amount of work and finances. There are plenty of places around with real knowlegable horses people to go to that you will not have to worry about your horse.

This is the best farm. Horses are well cared for, staff is knowledgeable and very horse friendly. Two of the staff have degrees in Equine Science from Ohio colleges. Owner and her husband are warm, caring people. When I h ad to put my horse down (due to old age and congestive heart failure) they left their jobs and came home to say goodbye to him and be with me when the vet came. I believe the excellent care my horse received helped him live a long and happy life. People who complain about this farm don't know a hay bale from a sack of chicken feed. Again, I repeat this is the BEST farm!!

I LOVE IT!! My horse gets the BEST care at the Black Pegasus!! The grounds are beautiful! The horse care is superb! The hay quality is great! The owners are SUPER NICE!! The wife even has an equine education and life long experience with horses. The staff are really great too.. I even heard some of the girls have equine degrees! My horse is very happy and his stall is very well bedded.... no complaints here. As for the other review - I guess everyone can get a disgruntled boarder...It's a hidden gem in Franklin!!

DO NOT believe the 2 reviews above!!! - The staff could not recognize a colic or a lame horse if their lives depended on it! Their ignorance is mind boggling!

There's a reason so many people left!!

And there is no staff there that has ANY equine education!! If they did and it was legit if would be documented on their website.

They are horse lovers NOT horse people.

This place is not good. The care is horrible with no staff that remotely knows anything about your horse. We caught them cheating on feed. I left, now feeding my horse what he was "getting fed" there and he's gaining weight whereas he was losing weight there! About 15 people have left recently. Don't believe the pictures or the empty promises they make. Avoid at all costs!!
