Needs improvement

Picked up our lawn tractor & ATV for tune up mid-May asked to be called for amounts it will cost to tune up. Never got a call in 2 weeks called them to ask about them. Told person on the phone I was never called to get the cost to make sure I had the $. Person on the phone said that would be a good idea huh? Told me the lawn mower was ready for delivery, I said great how much? Did not have an amount but said it would be less then$100. Great I thought. They delivered it 6/7 but no invoice called back told they will send invoice when they deliver the ATV. Finally 7/16 we got the ATV back they never called to tell me they were going to deliver it, dropped it off behind the house keys in ignition & invoice tucked in seat. I was @ work. Shocked @ invoice almost $400. Never called to tell me the amt before the work was done so I would have a chance to decline. Never expected a $400 bill remember I was told mower would be under $100 that did not happen either. Can't really afford it but we will pay it. Warning make sure you get the estimate in writing! Plus took forever to get items back. Very poor business practices, seems very unfriendly just wants your $$.

Don't do business here

My husband, Gary, bought a tractor from Steel Tractor on 9-16-14, a company he bought a tractor from 15 years or so ago and a company with which he had been very impressed. He went straight to them when he decided to buy another tractor. It is a used tractor. The price was fair. It had just come in the day before. It was to be delivered to Gary in the next few days. Gary offered his credit card, but they wouldn't take it because it's an airline credit card and it costs them too much; they would have to raise the price to cover it. The salesman said "You don't have to pay me now. Just give me cash on delivery." Gary agreed. The salesman was supposed to call him. He didn't call. Days later Gary called. The salesman (Mark) told him that he shouldn't have sold him the tractor and because Gary didn't give him any money it wasn't really a contract. It needed servicing and they needed to order $500 worth of parts. Gary said he would pay for the parts. They agreed and the tractor was to be delivered last Monday. It wasn't delivered. Friends who have also dealt with Steel Tractor (and were likewise impressed) told Gary he needed to call the owner who would make it right. Gary is out of town, but today called the owner of the business. It turns out that the SON of the previous owners, Rick Steel, has taken over. He repeated that they shouldn't have sold him the tractor. He said the parts haven't even been ordered, that it's a matter of priorities. He said he would have the salesman, Mark, call him, but that was it.When Gary bought the tractor he was sitting right outside Rick Steel's office and the salesman went in to his office and asked him what the price was on the tractor because he had a buyer. So he obviously sanctioned the sale. Rick Steel called Gary just now (10-2-14) and told him "I've reviewed this with the Salesman and the Service Manager and we should have never sold you that tractor and, guess what, we're NOT going to sell you that tractor. If you're interested in something else, come see us."No apology, no concession, nothing. Gary will go somewhere else. This used to be a great business, but it isn’t now. Go somewhere else.

Worst comany we have ever done business with TOTAL FAIL

Called Steel tractor and got a quote to fix my mower. It needed 2 bearings and with labor would cost $150.00. Made an appointment for Tues. Called the following Monday and its not fixed but they will have it ready tomorrow or wed at the latest. No word back so called again the following Monday. Not ready yet but will be ready Tues or Wed at the latest. No call again so called on Sat and no one to talk to but now MAYBE the mech is having trouble finding parts. Call back Monday and complain to Rick and the next day the tractor is ready but instead of the original $150 estimate they charge me $400. Two days later the part they fixed breaks. As for me Steel Tractor is a TOTAL FAIL.

All of our phone calls and dealings with Rick Steel have been nothing less than fantastic. I simply can't recommend his dealership highly enough.
