Overall

On January 8, 2014 United Airlines approved a Voucher in the amount of $234 for Yellow Taxi Cab, located at the Fort Wayne Airport in Indiana, to transport me and my family to the Indianapolis Airport. We were picked up in New Haven and our taxi driver Dennis Nobel informed us that the "owner" insisted that we turn the voucher in before leaving for the Indianapolis Airport. This was very unprofessional and a HUGE inconvenience for us. About 35 minutes from the airport we experienced a terrible and frightening blow out. Mr. Nobel called the "owner" stating that his name is Duke Brown. He was placed on speaker phone. Mr. Nobel argued with the "owner" stating that the tire rim is bent; there was no spare tire and no jack. They started arguing about whose responsibility it is to take care of the taxi maintenance, neither one taking any responsibility. After going back and forth with phone calls and looking for a spare tire and jack that did not exist, I finally stated that we were going to miss our flight. I asked if they could call the Yellow Taxi Cab company in Indianapolis to take us the rest of the way to the airport. I had to look up the information on my phone and after 2 more phone calls to the "owner" and Yellow Taxi Cab company in Indianapolis, the Indianapolis company would not take a credit card over the phone from the "owner" but, agreed to take a fax. The "owner" stated that his fax was not working. The "owner" stated on speaker phone with 5 witnesses present that he would reimburse us if we paid for the remainder of the trip. We agreed. Mr. Nobel gave us the "owner's" name as Duke Brown and his phone number. Mr. Nobel was clearly frustrated and using foul language stating that he would be stranded in Indianapolis because the "owner" would not send anyone to get him. The Indianapolis Yellow Taxi Cab picked us up from the Shell gas station and took us to the Indianapolis Airport. We only had 40 minutes before our flight was scheduled to take off. We made it on but our luggage did not. On January 13, 2014, I called and spoke to Duke Brown, which of whom I was told was the owner. When I spoke to Mr. Brown, he remembered the incident and that we were to be reimbursed, but stated that he needed to talk to the owner and asked that I e-mail the receipt to info@yellowtaxicab.mobi and to call back the following day on January 14, 2014. He also asked where the taxi was located as they had not been able to find it. I was able to provide this information for them. My husband sent the e-mail with the receipt on January 14, 2014. I called Mr. Brown and asked if he had received it. He stated yes and that he would speak to the "owner" and call me back. I did not hear back from Mr. Brown so on January 22, 2014, I again called and Mr. Brown stated that he spoke with the "owner" and he approved for a check to be sent in the amount of $48. After no check arrived, I called Mr. Brown on January 31, 2014 and he stated that he was very busy and would have the check in the mail by next week and asked that I call him to confirm it was sent. Mr. Brown stopped taking my phone calls, so on February 3, 2014, I sent an e-mail to Mr. Brown describing the verbal agreement he made to reimburse us for paying the remainder of our trip to the Indianapolis Airport and reminded him that United had paid his company in full for a service that was NOT rendered as agreed upon. On February 7, 2014 it was very obvious that Mr. Brown was going to continue avoiding my phone calls, so on February 13, 2014 my husband called Mr. Brown from a work number he would not recognize and was able to speak to Mr. Brown again asking for the $48 check as agreed upon. We have not heard anything since. It is apparent to us that this "owner" / Duke Brown is a liar and a thief. We absolutely plan to contact United Airlines to file a complaint with them as this is a vendor that they utilize frequently at the Fort Wayne Airport.
