Cataracts
When too little PTH is produced, calcium levels in the blood drop while phosphorous levels rise. This condition is known as hypoparathyroidism and causes weakness, anxiety, fatigue, muscle aches and cramps, headaches, muscle spasms, cataracts, depression, mood swings, memory loss and tingling sensations in the fingers, toes and lips.

Kidney Stones
Symptoms include osteoporosis, kidney stones, bone and joint pain, weakness, lethargy, loss of concentration, depression, loss of appetite, constipation, nausea and vomiting. MRI
MRI: Magnetic Resonance Imaging can clearly show tumors near bones, smaller tumors and brainstem masses. It uses a magnetic field rather than x-ray radiation.

To confirm a nasal fracture, your doctor will perform a physical exam. He or she will press on the sides of your nose and look inside your nostrils for signs of broken bones. Topical anesthetics may be applied before the physical exam to control the pain. An imaging test is usually unnecessary, but based on the severity of your injury a CT scan may be required if a physical exam is too painful to be performed.
Chemotherapy
Ear, Nose & Throat Associates will make a decision based on these unique factors. Options might include surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapy or a combination of the above.
Radiation Therapy
Radiation therapy delivers radiation to the cancerous cells through X-rays or other high-energy beams, causing them to die. It is most effective in early-stage cancers, where it may be the only treatment necessary.

General Surgery
Minimally Invasive Surgery
When a patient has been diagnosed with an oral cancer, transoral robotic-assisted surgery (TORS) may be an option if the tumor needs to be removed. TORS is a minimally invasive surgery that can be done through the mouth. It uses a sophisticated, computer enhanced system to guide surgical tools. This system gives the surgeon an enhanced view of the cancer and surrounding tissue.

Mohs Surgery
The most common surgical procedure for treatment of nonmelanoma skin cancers is Mohs surgery. Also known as chemosurgery, the cure rate is very high â€“ 98 percent or greater for both basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas.
Reconstructive Surgery
Mohs surgery is a four-step process that entails surgically removing sections of tissue, examining each specimen, mapping the cancerous areas and â€“ when all cancerous cells have been removed â€“ performing reconstructive surgery.

Coblation palatoplasty is a surgical procedure used to treat snoring and mild cases of obstructive sleep apnea. It is similar in concept to liposuction, and involves reducing the size and thickness of the soft palate and uvula.

There are many other possible causes including Alzheimerâ€™s disease, brain tumor, aneurysm, diabetes, cocaine use, chemical exposure, malnutrition, hormonal imbalances, medications, Parkinsonâ€™s disease, rhinoplasty, radiation therapy and old age, among others.

Laparoscopic Surgery
During the surgery, the surgeon will sit at a control console a short distance from the patient and operating table. They will precisely control the motion of the surgical instruments using two hand-and-finger control devices. The console display will show a magnified, 3-D view of the intended surgical area, which enables the surgeon to visualize the procedure in greater detail than laparoscopic surgery.

Allergy drops are an important new treatment option for patients constantly refilling over-the-counter allergy medications or taking daily trips to the doctorâ€™s office for allergy shots. Currently, allergy drops are effective for treating asthma related to dust mites, as well as allergies to grass, ragweed, pet dander and tree pollen. Researchers hope to expand the treatmentâ€™s effectiveness for other allergies such as hay fever, eczema and food sensitivities
Fungus
Molds are extremely common, both indoors and out. They are a type of fungus that thrives in moist, dark places. Not all molds cause allergic reactions, and not everybody who breathes in mold spores will experience symptoms.

This can be caused by a number of factors including colds and viral infections, allergies, misuse of the voice, bacterial infections, acid reflux, sinus infections, vocal cord lesions and smoking. A certain degree of hoarseness is common as we age.

Physical Therapy
At ENT, Tom was examined by one of our top balance specialists who confirmed the problem. Tom was suffering from benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), a condition caused by crystals of calcium carbonate that collect within the inner ear. The ENT specialist was able to successfully resolve the condition through a series of physical therapy maneuvers that moved the crystals out of the affected canal. The patient was able to return to his normal, balanced life.

Allergies
At ENT, Andy was examined by one of our allergy physicians who recommended allergy testing to find out which allergens were causing his reactions. Immunotherapy (allergy shots) were recommended and started two weeks after testing. These shots caused Andyâ€™s body to form antibodies which helped make him less sensitive when exposed to offending allergens.
