General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital - GLWACH

With the exception of one horrible PA in the ER, GLWACH is a wonderful facility that I can't speak highly enough of. I would love to give them a 5 star review, however, Mark Short, PA, makes that impossible. I fell in April 2012, hitting my head and hurting my back and shoulder. My husband took me to the ER where Mr. Short was my provider. He said that I was acting like I was on drugs due to slurred speech, did no examination of my head even though I had hit my head hard in the fall. Even after running a drug test on me, which came back negative, he said there was nothing wrong with me and that he felt I was 'drug seeking' and refused to treat my pain and sent me home. Six weeks later I had major surgery to repair a labral tear and reattach two tendons from a rotator cuff tear that happened when I fell and I have an appointment with a neurosurgeon to repair the damage to my spine in 2 weeks. On another visit I again had this person as my provider (2 weeks after the shoulder surgery) and he again accused me of drug seeking and refused to treat me. I've seen him 3 times in total and each time he has accused me of faking symptoms in order to 'get drugs', ignored instructions from a surgeon and a radiologist and treated me as something he stepped in rather than treated the injuries I was there for or any sort of human decency or respect. Multiple other employees (nurses, doctors and a pharmacist) have all told me that I'm not the only person he has treated in this manner. Both my husband and myself have left comments at the hospital about his actions and reported him as best we can and I sincerely hope something is done about him before his ego actually kills someone rather than just leaving them in terrible pain. It's a shame that such an amazing military medical facility employees a civilian who is such a black mark when all the other staff there are absolutely amazing.
